DANDELION CLOCKS

I love dandelion clocks, and seeds, and seed heads and pollen......!
Most summers I attempt to photograph a few dandelion clocks in the vain hope I will get the 'perfect' photo of one - I probably never will, but it doesn't stop me trying!  This years attempts have been put together for

After destroying quite a few in my attempt to photograph a whole one I put the remaining tatty ones in a glass bottle and photographed them as they disintegrated.

I thought I'd also show a couple of my favourite art installations with seed heads as the inspiration.

Isn't this beautiful - it's by Regine Ramseier and I found the image over at the Jealous Curator.  There are more fab pictures over there of this amazing  installation.

This is the incredible Seed Cathedral by Thomas Heatherwick, built for the 2010 Shanghai Expo.  It's six stories high and studded with 60,000 translucent rods.  It was built as a platform to show the work of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and their Millenium seed bank.  Each filament contains seeds from the bank.  There is more information over on his website

  9. GASP - fantastic shots - loved this post along with your palette. I walk past dandelions every day and I really need to just stop and snap a few.......they make great photography subjects as you've shown from those other images.

  10. I love dandelion seed heads. My favorite t-shirt is gray with dandelion seed heads and says "make a wish." They're just such a happy and calm image to me. Your photos are really nice, even if they're not what you wanted. And great finds with that installation and the building! Love them!

  11. I love your photo 'attempts' as you refer to them.

The difference between the brash yellow dandelion flower and the seed head always amazes me.

Great art installations.... my fave is the top one.

  12. Oh, I think that you did very well in using these weeds;') for your image shares. I try to do this too, but they did not turn out as lovely as yours did~
I am having a very slow week, and I ask you to forgive me for my tardiness. Momma always said, better late, then never~

Would you please consider removing "Word Verification", as it was suggested for me to do a couple of months ago. I have the most difficult time getting those silly letters sorted out right to even get a comment published. they blogs are truly safe and secure without them~
