POST HOLIDAY BLUES AND ALLIUMS

We arrived back home on Friday after a wonderful 3 weeks in Pennsylvania, USA visiting my step grand-children and family.  With two young children to enjoy, aged 2 years and 6 years old there wasn't much time for blogging, so apologies for not replying and commenting for so long!
I am suffering post-holiday blues and ploughing through washing and unpacking, so I've delved into my archives to come up with something to post for this week's Color Me Weekly and Mosaic Monday.  These Alliums were photographed in the restaurant at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, earlier this summer - I just love these wonderful spiky flowers!

I am also linking this to Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday - I used her texture 'Let Go' on all the above images.

  1. Those flowers are very beautiful...almost like a painting. I'm still learning to 'texture' photos...you did a great job on these.

  3. I know how you feel Diana. I have just come back from my hols in Cornwall and I am up to my eyes in washing too. Just taking some time out to catch up on some of my favourite bloggers. The flowers are lovely. I don't know anything about using photoshop and such like but you can get some beautiful results.

  5. Glad you had such a lovely holiday, Diana, and sorry about the post-holiday blues! Doing the washing after coming home is always so depressing, isn't it. Beautiful photos! We loved Osborne House, and the restaurant was particularly gorgeous - did they have those beautiful metal flower lamps when you went? I suffered Severe Lamp Envy and looked up the artist on the Internet when we got home - biiiig mistake - they were waaaay out of our league! (Would have to sell the kitties into slavery to get anywhere near affording them lol!!)

Thanks for your fabulous comment on my blog, and I'm so glad you liked Ryn's card. The Angelna fibres are fun. I haven't tried the technique with velvet yet, but Ryn told me about it. Useful tip, spritzing with water first. I remember that angel hair stuff we used to drape all over the Christmas tree! That brought back a few memories.

Not really doing anything creative at the moment because I'm immersed in the Paralympics, which is taking my mind off feeling really poorly at the moment, brought on (I think) by the stress of Dad being taken ill and in hospital, and all the rushing around we've done, and how much is being carried by my dear hubby because I can't do anything. It's not an easy time. Your comment made my day!

  11. I hope those blues disappear soon! You've taken some great shots of those alliums - I wasn't happy with any of my shots this year of alliums and I love those polka dots on the palette.

  12. These photos say "serenity" to me. I love the peaceful colors. Sorry you have the post-vacation blues. I had those a couple of weeks ago when I realized August was ending...quickly. The good times and the relaxation go so fast!

  13. Well, that explains your absence - so glad it was a vacation that kept you away! Pennsylvania huh? I've never been there - I hope you had a great time. Coming home is the worst - and the longer you're gone the worse it is I think. But well worth it...

  14. Glad you had a lovely holiday ..... on the plus side at least we have had good weather this week for drying the washing!

Your photographs are stunning. I can tell that you really look at things in detail... rather than just seeing the whole - and you pass this on in your photographs, which are a joy to look at.

Thank you for taking the time to 'catch up' .... your comments made me happy :)

Yes, I do love the tea shop at Gilbert White's House.... the tea shop, house and gardens have such a special quality to them.

I think I could live in the Liberty shop!!!

  18. What a beautiful collection of photos! I especially love the one with bubbles down the side. An interesting contrast to the sharp lines of the flower.
