Velvet Seed Head

Although winter is pretty much over I'm still bursting with ideas for the Winter Garden series of work I've been doing - this is a large seed head that I found and I simply had to fill each seed pod hole with a little velvet cushion!

I chose warm, wintery coloured velvets, silver micro beads to represent frost and I added some silver gilding paste around the edges and on the back of it.

I think I shall be putting Winter to one side soon - the garden is coming alive
and signs of winter are receding rapidly!

  8. Gorgeous, Diana! I love your velvets....beautiful colors. Velvet in my hands is a decidedly tricky fabric - I marvel at your ability to so perfectly make such small, perfect seeds! The micro beads are a lovely touch.....this is a wonderful addition to your series.xx Lynn

  10. The colours that you chose, in fact that you often choose in your creative projects colours that just warm my soul, for they echo my personality in colour choices too. Just beautiful. Happy Easter~

  15. Oh my, be still my beating heart! I love this so much I wish I could stroke it. Those velvets in the greys and browns with the silver beads are so scrumptious. I have only just found your blog hence my little flurry of comments, but I have put a link to you now so will see new posts as they pop up. I have had a pleasant half hour wandering through some lovely posts. I hope you are well on the road to recovery now. Having been through surgery myself recently I know how it knocks you for six physically and mentally. Elaine x
