A Ferny Birthday Card

A birthday card for the Hubs was needed this week and I tried to make it spring like and to reflect his love of nature.  I am really enjoying using the fern and  bud dies that came as a set by Marianne - I purchased them a few weeks ago in the belief you really can't have too many foliage dies or stamps!!  They also feature heavily in the Luminary I made in my last post here!

I am linking up with Julia over at What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday this week.

  1. Divine - need I say more? Agree on the foilage dies, they are super. Not done any paper crafting for a while, having an embroidery moment still. LOL. BJ#9

  6. took me a while to work out what a Hubs was then saw the other comments and felt foolish! It is even more silly now because I forget the english words for really common things and then if it is shortened or a nickname I stand no chance at all! I hope he is very impressed with your wonderful card ( gift). . dxxx#17

  9. Hi Diana, how lovely is that card! Ant is very much a 3-D person, I think. He has made models of all sorts, using kits and also from saved 'stuff' since he was a small child. He used to have this HUGE box in his room which held all his treasure- broken toys/models, pen lids, tubs, bottles- you name it, he saved it to build with. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 XxX

  11. Diana, such a very beautiful card for your hubs. The fern and bud, greet us with the beautiful spring, hopefully soon here, for real, and your butterfly dancing in the air, add to the feeling of a real garden look. The background so wonderful, too. I hope you both had a lovely birthday !! xo, Dorthe

  14. Oh, that is a gorgeous card, bet your hubby loved it! The butterfly is a lovely pop of colour....we saw many different sorts in the butterfly house yesterday, including a Goliath moth, about 8" across that had recently come out of the chrysalis. Amazing!

  17. How lovely - the layers of fresh green fronds and sprigs, stamped and die-cut, are so pretty, and then the zing of the butterfly - a treat of a card. I completely agree about the foliage stamps and dies - no such thing as too many!

  18. Stunning, Diana, absolutely stunning. Oh, you temptress, you... Shoshi NEEDS those dies and stamps... and I've just spent all that money on new Infusions and Distress Oxides (the latter still unopened - no time or energy to try them out yet!). Ah well. The perils of WOYWW and the Internet in general, I suppose. Still, this sort of addiction beats crack cocaine hands down.

I haven't participated in WOYWW this week as there's been too much going on on the home front. I've only been in my studio to get my camera out!

  20. I have the same attitude toward stamps and dies of scrolls and damask type patterns! Lovely lovely card...had to look twice at the butterfly!

  21. This is just gorgeous Diana. What a lucky, and obviously special guy if he appreciates and deserves your beautiful work! Those fern dies are really wonderful, and the contrast of the beautiful 3D butterfly really just is stunning. I hope you're getting some beautiful Spring weather to inspire you.

  22. Thanks for your lovely comment, Diana, and sorry to be so long getting back to you - it's a very busy time at the moment with so much going on and needing dealing with. No time for playing in my studio at the moment! So glad you like our garden - my hubby really has worked hard and it's looking great. Here in Torquay it's extremely mild and everything comes out sooner even than just a few miles further inland in Devon, so not surprised your forsythia is taking longer than ours! Our geraniums stay out all winter and continue flowering! My hubby and I only agreed today that both kitties are looking extremely well at the moment despite their various health problems, and both seem to be eating well, which is a relief. They're both getting quite old now.

    Have a great week.
