I've always organized by color, because color is what drives me. NOT OCD, just practical. Sorry I'm late visiting. It's been a busy life-gets-in-the-way type of week. You mentioned your machine breaking needles. I got this one that was supposed to sew 25,000 stitches, and I've put it to the test. Of course, I'm on my 6th one, but most I've broken because I did something wrong, not the needle's fault. I've never had trouble sewing through a bunch of heavy manila envelopes, at least not yet. It is so hard to find the yarns I need/want when it is all scattered about. Good use of the rack. It's sooo many years since I did any! When I was doing it, I actually found it quite predictable as long as one measured accurately, and it was intensely pleasing to see every bit of dye disappear into the yarn/fabric and none being wasted! I had great success dyeing small quantities in the microwave and this is what I intend doing now.

ShoshiShoshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00028185699225457125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-698455695833611307.post-9564623403055477962014-03-15T10:41:23.621+00:002014-03-15T10:41:23.621+00:00After seeing this post, I got out my old dye sampl...After seeing this post, I got out my old dye sample book and found the little samples looped through punched card, and also the "Chemical Dyeing" book I bought when I was last doing this - many, many years ago! I am keen to resurrect it all, and rummaged through my dyes box and discovered it was only the stock solutions that had dried up, and I've got plenty more of the dye in its original powder form, so I can easily make up more. Some of the colours I got were so subtle! I have also learnt a bit about colour mixing and the colour wheel since those days, and am planning on making up a sample wheel from some dyed yarns.

Thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - glad you like my zentangle teabag art! They certainly are the smallest zentangles I've ever done. I am planning to scan the page once it's complete, and then use printouts for other projects - cutting them out and regrouping them, etc. Like you, I also like the unembellished teabag stains and will probably do some more of these - I've already started another sheet, this time arranged in a diamond pattern. I had no idea teabags could be such a versatile source for art work. I've got plans for machine embroidery on them, too.

No half messages came through! All is well.
ShoshiShoshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00028185699225457125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-698455695833611307.post-71468355482745670252014-03-14T14:02:15.627+00:002014-03-14T14:02:15.627+00:00Your yarn storage/display is fab! I did this years ago with some samples of wool that I dyed in the microwave - something I am keen to try again but need to get new dyes as mine have all dried up. I love all your colours!

I didn't manage to get on WOYWW this week - my sister came and I was too busy, and then too tired. I haven't been in my ARTHaven all week, but managed to do a bit more of my teabag art this afternoon - details on my blog.

Have a great week.
ShoshiShoshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00028185699225457125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-698455695833611307.post-62724167965217285402014-03-13T12:52:39.935+00:002014-03-13T12:52:39.935+00:00Hey this is no way near OCD nope, never.
