I'm loving working with this vivid green velvet!
It's so moss-like and so refreshing from my usual earth tones. I used a page from an old antique photo album - the shape of the photo cut-outs originally drew me to it, although they are rather ornate for a lot of things I find.

I'm linking up with Julia over at What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday.
How beautiful and such detail Diana and how ironic that on Sunday I picked up three old albums at the vintage fair

Beautiful!!!Love the 'velvet moss'. Anne x #24
ReplyDeleteDiana what a beautiful use of that green velvet, and the whole picture is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks you for visiting my page, and your nice comments. The flowers were cut using Tattered Lace die, Lacy Marguerite (D183). I cut them, coloured them with Pan pastels and shaped them in my hand with a ball tool. I love that die, but Tattered lace have retired it so you will have to try and get it while stock last in shops.

It looks like moss alright, and makes me long for my former house & garden... there was this kind of moss in my garden and I loved it so much! Happy woyww and a hug from Holland! Marit #26

Hi Diana, that piece is just gorgeous. I love how you have allowed the velvet to fold and twist itself, so realistically like moss. The little 'spore heads' rising above them are a wonderful detail. The whole thing is so full of tiny details, and the frame works perfectly for this. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #3 xxx
ReplyDeleteThe green velvet looks just like moss! I can almost touch it! Your projects are so unique! I always know I will see something I have never seen before every time I visit! Love the shallow depth of field in your photos as well ;) This is something I'm only just experimenting with. Thanks so much for visiting earlier! zsuzsa #32
ReplyDeleteWow! So pretty.

This spring green is my absolute favorite color. I am overjoyed when the trees turn and all the world is alive! What a great project to celebrate that! The idea of using velvet for moss is brilliant. Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteI simply love what you've done with this, Diana - the way you've scrunched up the green velvet to create the moss, and the photo cut out is perfect too, with the delicate water-colour effect flowers around it, and the little moss "flowers" and the crystals on their wire stems. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit - it's been a busy time and I'm pretty exhausted after it all. One day... I shall get back in my studio but it has to be tidied first!!
Happy WOYWW,

Diana, this is absolutely beautiful! It's exactly the breath of Spring we need here where I live (it's gotten awfully cold again -- what is this???). I agree that velvet is so mossy and fresh looking. And how perfect to use one of the photo album pages! It seems to me I've come across one of those antique albums, maybe my mother in law gave it to me. You've inspired me to find it again and play with it!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I want to just dive into that scene! You've left your winter theme with a vengeance! That green is just delicious, and the details and textures are exceptional, as always. Fantastic use of a photo album page!
ReplyDeleteIt's another wow from me Diana. How well your other elements showcase the green velvet and vice versa! Xx
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting with the biggest smile on my face - there's something just so uplifting about this... the vivid fresh green, the soft furry texture of the velvet, those magical bead and wire flowers... Just picture me very happy!

Another stunning make, and such perfect detail for Spring!! I am with Alison - very uplifting and full of light! You are a master of detail for sure, and the use of color here is over the moon! xxx Lynn

Oh my word, this is so beautiful it presses so many of my buttons. That green velvet is to die for, (I used to have a carpet that colour, we left it in our old house, but it was so lovely like walking on fresh grass all the time), I love vintage photo albums, and all the little details and elements, as always are put together with such a wonderful eye for design and detail. I love it. Elaine
