Sketchbook Work - Beyond the Enclosure

This week for What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday I've been doing a little bit of work in my sketch book - in fact more work on the boundaries and gardens project, using some old gelli prints I did specifically for it.   I also spilled a lovely new bottle of Adirondack Butterscotch ink over the studio table and the front of my sketch book.  Once the swearing had died down and the ink had dried I tried to squish the book closed and found I rather liked the look of the pages with the unintentional splodge - so that explains the bottom photo!

  1. I like that first image very much, especially the circles around the tree - they really appeal :-) Love the colours and textures too. Your story about the splodge made me laugh though...it's a beautiful splodge indeed and I'm glad you like it!! A happy accident (though not at the time, obviously!)

  2. Well done on turning an accident into something beautiful, sometimes that makes something unexpected into something you really love.

  7. No accidents, only creative opportunities and that's what you've done! Love this page you've created. I am new to gelli printing, but can't wait to do things with some deli papers I printed. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #34

  8. I love that page, really fresh and somehow graphic. (If that makes sense). I can sympathise with the swearing - had a bit of a glue overload onto my project today - note to self, when the glue won't come out, unclog the nozzle, don't just squeeze harder till the lid pops off...........) Thanks for your earlier visit, Hugs Cindy x

  9. I love the combination of the elements to this page, Diana. There is nothing wrong with a happy accident, except for the mess, of course.

  10. I can totally understand the swearing! But somebody has told me quite recently (when I had a mishap) that accidents are creative opportunities..... It looks as though you've turned it into something artistic. Shame about the new bottle of ink though...
Thank you for letting me peep over your shoulder.
    Have a good week,
    a hug and God bless,

  12. Ha Ha yours is the second happy accident I have seen on WOYWW this week. The first page is very different to your usual style ... but love the different elements.

  15. I really love the graphic quality of your page, all the contrasts of shapes, and the black and white against the rich color. . And the spill, I feel ya, I'm the worst with spills. So if you can make it work for you, all the better!

  17. Ouch! But well done, turning a disaster into a triumph! I sewed my felt poppies together this afternoon and attached them to a hair clip, and was furious that in spite of having a huuuuge amount of stuff in my ARTHaven, I had no shiny black embroidery thread and no small black beads... I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the centres of my poppies until I decided to use transparent gold beads instead, and the result is soooo much better than black would have been! So I'm glad I didn't have the stuff I wanted. You can usually turn things around!

Your page is stunning. Love the colour and contrasts.

Thank you for your lovely comment - I am so glad you like what I've been up to this week! And thanks - yes, I have felt quite a bit better this week. Tomorrow I shall probably crash out again on the recliner because we've had a busy few days, but I shall have to summon enough energy to cope with the dentist in the afternoon! Ugh.

    Happy WOYWW,

  19. Love that page. The tree image is spectacular! And how's that for serendipity, turning a mistake into an attractive "design element" heheehee... It really is a fabulous color.
