Since last week I have managed to make another six index cards for the ICAD challenge and I have been keeping to the theme of decay and repair. I have used some odds and ends of antique lace that are badly in need of repair and put them together with moth images and hand embroidery. For anyone that is interested I have some more photos on this project on my previous blog post.
I am sharing what's on my work desk for WOYWW over at Julia's Stamping Ground.
Do you know, Diana...you could well be right. The plants were about the height of poppies..I wonder if they're being grown for medicinal purposes? They really did look like a crop rather than just a few poppies along the field edge. It was quite stunning though, even my two boys couldn't get over the sight!
ReplyDeleteI love the done/undone idea behind those cards - once again, you approach the idea from a different perspective. And the outsome is great. Considering you're working with basically three colours, it's amazing how tonal it is!

Oh, I just LOVE these... so beautifully delicate and evocative... just gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteI am loving your index cards.... the combination of thread/paper and colour is just so appealing.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous they are going to be to rifle through in an index box!

Wonderful embroidery - what a great collection this will be, I really like red white and kraft together. So it all works for me!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful Diana. It's been a long time since I have used textiles in my art. I must get my fabrics and sewing machine out again. Thanks for your reply to my comment on your last post. I still can't see the beauty in the old household moth.....each to there own.... Lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting challenge! Really cool using textiles! Happy WOYWW!

ReplyDeleteMy favourite art form and one of my favourite colour combos. I've been drawn to blues and creams for quite some time and like using blue ticking and vintage pieces. I forgot to show WOYWW the hangings I made. Never mind.
ReplyDeleteYour project is gathering speed and looking great Diana x
These are a wonderful combination of paper and textile. I think moths are just as beautiful as butterflies .They are so fragile with such wonderful markings
ReplyDeleteas I said the other day these are great and I see you have done even more.
ReplyDeleteI Really like the mix of little lace bits and the red thread embroidery and the lighting is perfect

Very cool Icads! Love your dainty stitching in and around the bits of lace. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #77
ReplyDeleteOooh you are so talented, Diana! I love what you are doing with this current project, and brilliant to associate moths with the theme of decay! Personally I am not keen on moths - quite irrational I know, but I'm terrified of those big ones that fly in at night time if you have the windows open lol!! I do appreciate them in art, though, and am thrilled with my set of moth stamps that I got from Designs by Ryn. I love your colour scheme too.
ReplyDeleteYou and I certainly seem to share some health issues in common! My reflux is probably M.E. related, though. Too early to know if the Omeprazole is working yet. I am also on iron as the blood test did reveal I was anaemic - the doctor said this could be a result of either the reflux or the colitis (top or bottom? take your pick!!) I won a foot massager on Ebay so I'm helping that will help with my swollen ankles. Never rains but it pours...
I'm now busy working on my recycled mini-album again and have completed two pages in two days! I have done videos but it will be a while before I get round to editing them.

I just love the combination of the red with the Kraft paper color in combination with old lace, and then your stitching just puts it over the top - your style is so distinct Diana. And the decay and repair them with the moths and lace, so perfect,it just sucks me in.
