Midnight Garden, Cyanotype Printing

A couple of collages using the cyanotype prints I made a couple of weeks ago.
The theme is the garden at night.

I've spent all day thinking it's Tuesday and I've just realised it's Wednesday and I nearly missed linking up with WOYWW - phew, just made it!

Midnight Garden and Paper Artsy Challenge

I so love my garden at night - it changes into a mysterious magical place.
I have been working on a series of collages about my Midnight Garden and in this collage I am looking at how the garden changes at night and the secrets it holds.
There is a thread of time running through the garden - the transient sensory experience that is over so quickly when the dawn breaks; the elusive scents, the night creatures and insects, and the dark and shadowy images of the garden in it's strange moonlit colour palette.

I am linking up with Paper Artsy for their latest challenge called Time.

Midnight Garden

Some sketchbook pages on my desk this week, for WOYWW.
The theme being the garden at night - one of life's pleasures is sitting in the garden as dusk falls and seeing the changing colours and shapes, the moths and  other creatures that appear - we have a hedgehog that has been visiting us over the last few weeks - and even the scent of some of the plants seems to intensify later in the evening!

Cyanotype printing

I've been busy this week printing cyanotype prints in the garden.
Not much sunshine around so making the best of it when I can!

Garden foliage and lace held down with sheets of glass.

Some of the prints being washed off in the kitchen sink - the stripes across the photo are the reflection of my kitchen blinds in the water - however I tried they just kept wanting to be in the picture!

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

WOYWW #318

Very unusually for me my desk is in an appalling state!
I always clear away as I work - constantly putting things back in drawers and on shelves even knowing I'll be needing them again shortly!
What on earth happened!?!

Waiting to be put away: piles of fabric, cyantoype prints and a few pots of screen printing ink still in the packaging!

I am finding it difficult to concentrate and do any embroidery in such a mess so I know I have to tackle it soon!

Cyanotype Prints on Paper

This week I've been making cyanotype sun prints using paper.
I have quite a lot of papers and fabric left over from some classes I taught several years ago - the books say use it within 2 - 3 months and if it's over two years old it won't work well at all.
I'm very happy with the results from my 'well over 10 years old' fabric and papers!

I worked into some of the prints with black gel pen and water.

Thalictrum Aquilegifolium leaves - it's the most beautiful plant and fantastic for cutting and bringing indoors.  I'm not actually sure if it's a weed or not, but I love, love, love it and I let it spread over large areas of the garden!
