Darning Looby Loo!

Since last joining in on the desks I have been continuing my mission to halve the 'treasures' in my eaves and I must say it's been going very well.  I still can't get across my studio floor to my desk but that's because it's covered in re-packed boxes, all beautifully labelled and waiting to go back in to the eaves (back ache allowing!).  I have more than achieved my goal of halving it, and I have uncovered some long lost friends that need a little attention!

My dear Looby Loo was knitted for me by mum and went everywhere with me! One of my earliest memories is settling down with her to watch Andy Pandy on Watch with Mother (anyone remember that?).  I started to give her a gentle wash and as I did so several tiny moth holes turned into rather large gaping and frayed holes.  She has been sitting by my armchair waiting to be mended for most of the week but to be honest I'm feeling rather nervous about how to go about it.  The Repair Shop's Teddy Bear ladies make it look so easy!!

I'm joining in with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

Knitting Patterns and WOYWW

 Happy New Year!
Not much to show and here's why...

After Christmas, instead of squishing the Christmas boxes back into the eaves that run along the length of our house I decided I could reduce everything by half and give myself some room to move!  I emptied everything into my studio - lots of large memory boxes, trunks and old suitcases stuffed with memorabilia from in-laws to Great grandparents! And behind all that a huge collection of paintings by my mother and her father, probably 50% of them unfinished!  I can see my desk across the workroom but can't actually get to it!  The dining table downstairs is loaded with boxes being unpacked, 'halved' and re-packed. I obviously come from a long line of hoarders!
It has been an emotional roller coaster, a few of the boxes haven't been opened for years. I came across this old knitting pattern and small Sindy doll coat that I made with my Grandmother's help (or maybe she made it with a little help from me!) - I'd forgotten all about it but it has evoked such happy memories of her teaching me how to knit and crochet.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

WOYWW #326

I met up with Lunch Lady Jan and Julia for a coffee last week and it was lovely.  We laughed and chatted our way through the morning and Jan gave me this beautiful bag - I'm so thrilled with it and adore Jan's beautiful taste in fabrics and exquisite workmanship.  A HUGE thank you Jan!

Why, oh why didn't I crochet this, knitting takes so long - perhaps it's because I love my knitting needles so much!

I'm linking up with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday this week, and that's what's on mine - about 6" of knitting that's taken me two months to do so far - I have a horrible feeling this will still be in the knitting bag in years to come!

Warm and Woolly

It's time for WOYWW again, and this week summer really has disappeared - after last weeks Christmas trees I'm now in woolly scarf mode!
I found some rather cosy knitting and crochet patterns on the internet and I felt so chilly and miserable over the wet August bank holiday that I dug out my knitting bag and got stuck in!  My newest finds, the little jug and bowl, were sitting on my desk and I noticed how beautifully they matched the wool - what a lucky coincidence!

For anyone interested both lots of wool are Dune by Trendsetter Yarns.

TAG TUESDAY

I am so thrilled to be part of Tag Tuesday, where each week we are given a theme and we make a tag - simple but hugely fun!   It's hosted by the super-talented Carolyn Saxby (love-stitching-red), and if you haven't already visited her blogs I highly recommend them.  You can also click the Tag Tuesday icon on the right to visit the blog and see all the amazing tag art being posted there.
