ATC Swap and WOYWW

I so enjoyed last week's 14th Anniversary ATC swap for WOYWW.
These are some of the ones I sent out...

...and I've received these little lovelies over the last week - such happy mail...
...thank you so much Julia, with the fab little badge, Angela (Felix the Crafty Cat) and Mary Anne whose ATC is so ingriguing and clever I'm still trying to work it out!

I'm still sorting my rubber stamps and this is the floor by my chair where I'm chucking the ones I don't want!   The desk is clear at the moment before I start on the last box, but I think the garden might win my attention today as the sun is shining and it's in need of some TLC!

WOYWW 14th Anniversary Swap

This week we are celebrating 14 years of WOYWW - what an achievement!  A huge thank you to Julia and Jan who keep this going each week - it's a wonderful group, full of friendship, creativity and fun.
To celebrate we are holding an ATC swap.   I completed mine last night, forgetting that although I made them in plenty of time (smug face) I forgot I had to stamp and attach the labels on the back, then fill them in - so a last minute job after all!

Here are some beauties that I received over the last few days - I do love getting happy mail and these were a joy to open - thank you Angela (Crafting with Jack), Jan, Helen, Twiglet and Wipso.

And now I'm off to join in the celebrations over at WOYWW!

ATC Swap for WOYWW

What a lovely week it's been with happy (and beautiful) mail dropping through the door for the WOYWW 13th Anniversary ATC swap.

The theme was Connections, and here are some of my ATC's that I sent out, but more importantly...

...here are the beauties I received during the week!

Thank you so much for these gorgeous little works of art - they will be treasured - and I think a couple are still on their way so more happy mail to come!

There has been no crafting going on this week but we did do a trip to Exbury Gardens, which is about a 5 minute drive from where we live - I just had to visit the Wisteria while it was in full bloom!  We were early enough to be the only ones there, so we were able to enjoy our flask of coffee on the bench inside it without ending up in anyone else's photos!

Loving Ginkgo Leaves and WOYWW

It's that time of year again - time to gather up stray leaves that have fallen from a neighbours beautiful Ginkgo tree and press them for future projects! There's something so appealing about the shape of a Ginkgo leaf.  However they are rather delicate to work with so I needed a Ginkgo leaf die too! This one also embosses the leaf with veins but I've managed to completely erase them with my enthusiastic layering of crackle paste, glossy accents, antiquing cream and Metallic Lustre!

They are both on MDF bases and the blue one is going to be the sturdy cover of a small journal I'm planning on making.  I had two ideas swimming around in my head so had to try both out - I think the blue one wins!
Happy mistakes - I accidentally dripped some dirty paint water onto the little pipe stems and I rather like the resulting splodges so I added more to both stems and leaves!

Beach Collages and WOYWW

I really don't do the beach in summer, although I do spend many hours at our local beach out of season and love it.  Somehow the three little backgrounds I had left over from last weeks collages just screamed 'seaside' at me, helped along by me finding a piece of sea pottery with a pretty wave pattern on it!

It also gave me the perfect opportunity to use more of my old clay pipe stems - they make a perfect breakwater!  The gold foil I used on all three is not showing up very well in the photos but in one of two of these detailed shots you can see the light glinting on the gold of the coral, the sea glass and the stamped seashell.

Three Little Collages

I was intrigued to find a piece of old crackle glazed sea pottery with what looked like a raised flower stem on it - I knew I had use it, and these three little card toppers, made on blank ATC's are what resulted.

I lined up the little ridge in the pottery with the stem of the die cut flower, and I used the orangey/blue colour of the old crackle glaze to influence the background inks and the crackle stamping on the the die cut stems.

Insect Card Toppers and WOYWW

Very little has been happening on my desk lately as the Hubs has had a hip replacement operation during the last two weeks - he was walking around on day 2, walking up and down stairs on day 3 and he was home by day 4  - I was amazed at how quickly they chucked him out of hospital, but he's doing remarkably well despite my lack of nursing skills!

Anyway, I managed to grab an hour up in my studio and made some card toppers on some old blank ATC cards. I decided to play with my new insect stamps that I purchased after seeing them on Shaz's desk back before Christmas.

A Nature Themed ATC Swap

I have recently been involved in a lovely ATC swap with Elaine over at
Craft Shed Girl - I was so pleased when she let me know she was up for a swap, as we have similar tastes and a love of nature in our artwork!

This is the ATC and matching box I sent to Elaine, it's based on my current work around the moonlit garden ...

... and this is the beautiful ATC holder and gift tag Elaine sent me...

Elaine very cleverly designed and made the holder herself - it's absolutely ingenious and such an effective and beautiful way to present the ATC.  I felt I was opening a birthday present when it arrived!
As you can see once you undo the ribbon holding it closed, it opens up to display the ATC which is held in the card groove - and what a stunning ATC it is. Elaine thoughtfully and carefully worked with images, colours and subject matter that she knows I like and if I had sent her a list of my requirements she couldn't have got it more right!!!

This has been such an enjoyable swap - thank you Elaine!
I must add that for anyone interested Elaine has listed her supplies and techniques over on her blog

May's Forgotten Stash

Each month I'm rooting out forgotten and never used stash with a view to using it or moving it along.  For May I found a set of little frames by BLine Designs.  They came on a cube and there were four of them originally, but after peeling them off many moons ago I seem to have lost one!
It was hard finding a project for them but I decided they would be little windows onto a Spring garden.

I am joining in with What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday this week and before I do anything else I would like to send Julia a huge Get Well hug - I am so glad her surgery went well and I am sending positive, healing thoughts and lots of love her way.
Last week was the ATC swap and these are the ones I sent out (I made 7 but somehow only photographed 6)....
And these are the ones I've received so far...
The wonderful bee, so happy and sunny, from BJ (BJCraftcorner) and the beautiful heart from Shaz (Silverwolf) - I am loving that heart stamp!  Thank you so much ladies, it was a joy receiving them through the post.
