Cinnamon Bark Tag

While at a needlework fair recently I discovered Cinnamon Bark and I love it!
I've used it for the background on this tag - it is quite textured and has a wonderful warm, spicy colour.

I wrapped sari silk around the middle of the tag and used a Heartfelt Creations flowers and die set. I added some buttons I had covered myself, as I haven't finished scratching that particular itch yet, so to speak!!

I have also been making ATC's for next week - I managed to make five extra so if anyone would like to swap please let me know and I'll swap with the first five to contact me.  I'm hoping it all goes smoothly as I've never ATC'd before but I've been assured by Julia that it is easy peasy!

Talking of Julia, I am linking up with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and I am also wishing her a lovely, relaxing holiday before her big adventure in hospital.   And good luck and a big thank you to Jan, who I know will be doing a fab job keeping things running smoothly each Wednesday!

  1. Morning, Diana. Your work is, as usual, beautiful. Yes, that tag background is the most wonderful colour - no need to do anything with it other than use it!!!
    Take care. God bless.

  3. 💖💖 Tag-tastic!! That is sooo beautiful, I love the combination of colours and textures. Don't you think that brown is an underrated colour? It's not used so terribly often, apart from grungy stuff which isn't quite the same. I adore the buttons as well btw, you keep making them as much as you like. The embossed velvet is quite wonderful, I must get you to show me how it's done one day? Can I tempt you to come up, if I do lunch??!

  10. Oooh, texture yumminess for sure! Just the name cinnamon bark sounds wonderful - is it actually cinnamon? I love the creams and brown together, and those buttons, I just love them. Especially the kind of chenille looking one. Can't wait to see your ATC's!

  16. Again I find myself saying out loud, "Oh my goodness..." Diana, this is just fabulous! I adore the subtle colouring (as always!) and the cinnamon bark is stunning! Does it smell of cinnamon? I've never come across this before. You have inspired me to get going with the Heartfelt Creations flower stamps I bought a while back after you told me about them. I've been so busy lately that there hasn't been time for studio time but at least I got my hubby's mixed media birthday card made in time for today!

    Happy WOYWW,

  20. Thank you for your return visit, Diana, and for your kind words about Phoebe and my hubby's card! Satisfaftory endings for both events lol! He loves the card, which I finished with plenty of tme to spare, and we have had a wonderful day celebrating his birthday at the Devon County Show and then an Indian takeaway back home with his brother and our sis-in-law, with lots of laughter and fun.

  22. I love the cinnamon bark! The texture is great and I love the smell of cinnamon. The pairing of silk and bark is really cool and I love the covered buttons. You've inspired me to get out some button forms I have left over from sewing and use them for mixed media!

  23. Beautiful work as always Diana. Like others I wondered if the bark smells lovely too. Love the combinations of colours and textures. I expect I've missed the chance but I would be up for an ATC swap with you sometime. I don't make them very often, but like to when it is something special. Elaine x

  24. Hi Diana, thanks for coming back to see my hubby's finished card - he loved it. I had such fun with all the textures. We had a brilliant day on his birthday at the County Show with the meal afterwards and I've been recovering ever since, but felt better yesterday when I was able to paint his flower boxes. I'll be blogging about them later. I've got to make an anniversary card for him before Tues (our 30th anniversary) and your beautiful tag on this post has inspired me to get those stamps out - I've found a really grungey background in my backgrounds folder that would do just fine for a monochrome card that isn't too feminine! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm not so good again today so have missed church and will rest. I'd love to get in the studio later though!

    Have a great week,
    Shoshi

  25. Hi again, Diana - inspired by your beautiful tag, I have now made my hubby's anniversary card which you can see on my blog. I've also blogged about the narrow boat painting on his flower boxes. So nice to be able to spend some time in the studio again!

  26. Me again - thank you soooo much for your two such encouraging and enthusiastic comments!! I am so glad you like my two recent efforts, especially the card which was inspired so much by you! I quite enjoy fussy cutting sometimes, but yesterday I did get a bit tired of it, and I'm glad I've ordered the dies. I am just wondering how you line them up with the stamping, though... How funny that you have got that embossing folder too. This is the only time I've ever used it but I think it lends itself very much to this sort of project and I think it will be seeing the light of day again quite soon. Your remark about "sometimes returning the favour" re inspiration made me laugh - you ALWAYS inspire me, without fail! I always take a deep breath before visiting your blog so I've got plenty of breath for the big "Wow!" that inevitably comes from the bottom of my lungs. If only I had half your talent... still, I look back on my early stuff and realise that I am catching up, gradually, lol! Thank you for your anniversary wishes - you will laugh, he did forget! I gave him the card this morning and he said "What's this for?" and was then covered with confusion lol lol! He said "Would you like to go out to Yum Sing this evening to make up for it?" and asked me to forgive him! I told him there was nothing to forgive - he was just being a typical man haha! Anyway we are off to our fav Chinese eatery this evening, which I'd been hoping for all along!

  27. Thank you again, Diana! Thanks for the advice about placing the die over the stamped image - I shall have to give this a try. I had to laugh at you forgetting your own anniversry date - how funny!! My hubby is feeling really guilty about forgetting but I keep telling him it doesn't matter - thanks for thinking of us tonight - we will certainly enjoy our Chinese meal! I envy you your jacket potato because I adore them, but since getting Kermit (my stoma) I can no longer eat the skins and I really miss that. I can eat pretty well everything, though, even Chinese which I thought would be a no-no because it can be quite fibrous.

  28. Wow, Diana - exquisite texture and palette!! Reminds me of those lovely neutral tags you made for the holidays last year. Love that bark - that is new to me, and will have to scope out a source for that as it is fabulous texture (and perhaps scent!) xxx Lynn
