Textile Birthday Card and WOYWW

October is a busy month for birthday celebrations and this week it's my sister's birthday, so here is the card and gift bag I made for her.
I picked up some lovely tweed fabric squares from a charity shop a few weeks ago and decided they would go very well with the beautiful rusty orange coloured silk velvet.
I embossed the velvet with a leaf stamp, covered a couple of buttons with the same velvet, die cut some copper sheet and added some hand embroidery and beading.

I made the origami envelope but needed paper nearly A1 in width to get it to the correct size (6"x6") - it's open so the card just slips in, which is fine when it's not going through the post!

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  5. Such beautiful, delicate details in this! The gift bag looks fab as well. There are so many people with Autumn birthdays (my son and hubby included) - and I think there's a perfectly logical explanation to that - long. cold winter nights and all, hehe. Lovely to see you back on WOYWW Diana. We seem to be posting on alternate weeks and we've missed each other! zsuzsa #20

  19. Oh Diana, this is simply stunning... I love your use of the tweed fabrics for an autumn theme and the embossed velvet is amazing - it looks like a subtle shadow of ferns. The bag is amazing too - everything this week is totally mouth-wateringly gorgeous!! I hope your sister appreciates just how much creativity, talent, time, imagination, work, and more, went into such a beautiful birthday gift!

Thank you for your visit and my apologies for the late reply - other things seem to have got in the way this week! Thank you for your good wishes - still no pants (I shall phone on Monday) but my CT scan results are back and so is the hernia, 100% certain now. Not that I had any doubt. As for my knitting, the unravelling is a total pain, especially with the fluffy yarns, but it will be worth it! Never fear, the colours, textures and circle design are returning, just in a differently shaped garment. I’ve already started designing the pattern. It will be a nice project for winter evenings in front of the TV.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
