Lino Cutting and a Shed!

This is my desk just as it was yesterday afternoon, as I frantically printed a lino cut that I had made for my brother-in-law's birthday.
He has a new shed/workshop, which is his pride and joy and also his sanctuary, complete with wood burning stove - hence the chimney on the shed roof.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.
I'm also sending love, gentle hugs and positive thoughts to dear Shaz Silverwolf.

  2. I love Lino cuts and this design is no exception! It looks great, such a strong image and perfect for a shed loving bloke!
We’ve all got Shaz and Doug in our thoughts, can’t stop thinking about her.

  3. That's so cool! Perfect masculine card and what a fab lino cut to be able to use again and again. He could definitely frame one to go on his workshop wall. Definitely hugs all around today, Lisa-Jane #10

  4. I guess you found the Updates group on FB - or followed the link on LLJ's blogpost today as you seem to know about our Shaz. Just so glad Doug is how he is and has got in to sit with her, they are inseparable. I can just imagine him saying he would have to wait outside in his car all night if it had to be.
That is a fabulous lino cut you have done for your brother. That is one lesson I dreaded coming around each year at school, I wasn't much good myself but always had a huge supply of plasters for the kids. Good job I was not like Doc Martin!
    Hugs, Neet 6 xx

  5. Those prints are just perfect! Men love their little dens - my husband is so territorial - he wouldn't let me put a freezer in the garage (even though he has a large shed/workshop AND a man cave above the garage as well). So whenever we run out of milk or bread, I always make a point that I could just get one out of the freezer if we had one! You could give your brother in law the lino cut as well, so he can make his own prints! Not everyone gets their own custom design for their birthday! Have a lovely week, Diana! xx zsuzsa #24

  8. Diana, I am quite envious of your brother-in-law...sounds like an AWESOME man cave!!! My ex husband and I owned a wood shop and I have fond memories of it with all its glorious smells, sounds and even the wood burner! You did a lovely, lovely job on that card and I know he will appreciate it so! Blessings to you Diana! Have a wonderful rest of your week! Felicia #30

  10. What a great lino cut, Diana! Funnily enough I was thinking about lino cuts this week and remembering I did them at school. Haven't done them since, but they have such a lovely distinctive look. I love how you've repeated the design in different colours - very stylish! Your bro-in-law is going to be really chuffed with this! As my hubby always says, "Every man must have his shed." Mine has a massive man cave that was built on the site of the old (miserable) garage when we moved here - its walls became the foundation of the new one. It was made to be big enough to fit my hubby's boat (which has never been in there) and the car (which has never been in there either lol!!). It's so big and yet he still complains that it is cluttered up with buggies and wheelchairs haha! He has a phone up there and I can call him on the intercom setting, which is a good thing, as he never hears if I yell from the back door.

Thank you for your lovely comment - you are one of several who really like the latest cat square, despite my not really liking it! I can't wait to get onto the next stage now, but my hubby will have to be locked out of that room because he's quite capable of forgetting he's not supposed to go in there, and blundering in for some reason or other! He's still working on the jigsaw in there so I hope he finished it soon. I'm glad you enjoyed the "real kitties" this week too. They certainly like their home comforts. They are both cuddled up with my hubby at the moment as I'm up and down attending to supper.

Yes, home-made cleaners are the best! So cheap, really environmentally friendly, no horrible smell (unless you can't abide vinegar - but that smell soon disappears), and really effective too.

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. Oh wow! I used to do this years back, my first thing was a house...I have all the stuff,in the attic but haven't found it yet, I spec allthe paints have dried up by now, but the tools would be useful. Actually! I've decided to get up in that attic first thing and have another hunt for it.Anyway, your card is brilliant and he'll love it! Men love their 'man caves!' Stay safe, Always Keep on crafting! Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #26!

  14. That's a grand carving Diana, what a super personal card for your BIL. I've always found Lino so hard to carve into but your cuts and carves are so precise. His mancave sounds fab with the wood burner.. just what we need during these nippy days.
Best wishes & stay safe Tracey #36

  17. I love a good lino cut! Reminds me of the ones we did with a visiting artist in our Infants' school. We carved flowers and then they were stamped into bricks - handmade and fired and then laid in our Millennium garden. Still there and a reminder of happier times. xx Jo

Update on here in Victoria – we are in a snap lockdown again – hopefully only for a few days – but 5k limit, no visitors or gatherings, only leave the house for the 4 special reasons, only essential shops open…
