This week I am linking up to Color Me Weekly and Mosaic Monday. The teacups originally belonged to my Great Grandmother - sadly a few years ago a shelf collapsed and most of it was smashed, so I only have a few pieces that aren't covered in large glued cracks!
I used French Kiss textures on this last photo.
I'm now going to sit back and relax, have a nice cup of tea and enjoy a good book!
Oh how beautiful! I love tea, and of course with that comes a love of teacups. This one looks beautiful paired with those antique books. Love your pictures as always.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that so many of those beautiful cups and saucers got broken. Beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm just off to the garden with a cup of tea and a magazine :)
The cups are beautiful. I'm glad you were able to save a few.
ReplyDeleteThe shelf accident must have been heartbraking as well. Delicious colours in your tea service - especially like the third image. Thanks for the FK link - for when I next obtain a copy of photoshp
ReplyDelete...a gorgeous montage Diana, beautiful delicious china & such a sad tale too, at least some were saved though...Mel :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful pattern. How horrible to have lost so many of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cups - breaks my heart thinking of some getting broken. It's the most horrible feeling isn't it, when it happens with something old that you've been given. My Christmas tree fell over one year and most of my delicate old glass ornaments from my Grandmother were destroyed - still makes me nauseous thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are gorgeous - I just love how you combined the cups with the books. Everything looks better next to an old book!
Lovely photos of beautifully delicate cup!! Works of art! Cathy
ReplyDeleteI love the color palette in the cup and books photo. So rich and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teacup, Love the palette very vintage!
ReplyDeleteOh they look like one of the Royal Albert designs! I've some older china up in the attic........never thought of taking photos of it. Great compositions too especially with the old book and the palette. I can't imagine being able to hold the handle of that cup - it's so intricate.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful china.... It's so wonderful that you still have it and love it. I do LOVE your old books too.
ReplyDeleteThe other week my parents gave me my nan's coffee set (which had been in their garage) its Royal Albert (Old Country Roses!) and last week I used the coffee pot to put flowers in :) I don't think nan would mind (I should point out we don't use it for coffee!!!)but now I have unwrapped the jug, sugar bowl and cups and saucers out have them where I can see them in the dining room. I think I'll just check the shelf is nice and sturdy.
Poor Terri with her Christmas Decorations..... some things just can't be replaced :(
Sorry for the extra long comment
Karenx
Oh I am so sorry so much of these beauties have been lost to an unstable shelf unit. I lost a whole lot of china just like that, a shelf collapsed and I came down to a pile of broken china all over the dining room floor. SAD!! But at least you have a few pieces and the images are so very lovely!!
ReplyDeleteThe last image with the French Kissed texture is esquisite~ Hope some of these can be replaced somehow...sad~
ReplyDeleteDiana, very well met (via PocketSizedStudios blog). Your art is spectacular. I love your photographs today because there is something so real and tactile like fine china. I used to work in a history house where all the porcelain was 18th century. I longed to touch it, although it was not allowed (a museum, afterall). There's something so perfect about a china tea cup. Conjures images of a graceful English summer afternoon. Will you share a cup with me? One lump? Two?
