I have been busy getting the house ready for Autumn this week. I love to change everything over in October to warm, autumny colours.
In my living room the mantle piece is covered in berries, pumpkins and candles - the cushion covers are changed for orange leafy patterned ones, rustic bowls of cones and crab apples are put on the hearth and decorative acorns are hung from handles and book cases.
The kitchen tea towels are swapped over for autumn coloured ones and my 'summer' salt and pepper pots are changed over for these lovely red and orange ones. I've been making large batches of butternut squash and orange soup this week and will be serving it in my favourite pumpkin shaped soup tureen!
As you can see I tend to go 'autumn mad' but I love it, especially on these darker, colder nights - the colours make the house seem so warm and cosy!
Not everything has to be orange! These wonderful yellows and golds are so rich - I am now after a shrub for the garden with berries in that vivid yellow colour!
I am linking up with Color Me Weekly and Mosaic Monday.
Photography is most certainly another of your talents - you clever person!!! ;-) Gilli @ Textile Cottage Studio
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty mosaics! You have inspired me to get some autumn color into my home also. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI do exactly the same thing with my house this time of year. Because Halloween is so popular here in the states, I mix in lots of Halloween things for October and then take them away and just leave my Autumn things. I, too, am Autumn mad!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful decor.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so inviting. Love the storyboard.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, made me feel all warm inside!

ReplyDeleteWow I love how you theme your house to go with the season - so unexpected to see this done in the UK as it's normally something I just see on US blogs. Those mellow yellow tones are lovely in your palette.......but I would love to taste some of that soup!
ReplyDeleteAll so lovely and yum Butternut Squash and Orange soup, sounds mellow and nice~

*gasp* I love these photos! I'm an Autumn fiend, too. The colors are just so vibrant and warm. I suspect it might also have something to do with my affinity for squirrels. So in particular, I just adore that acorn you show in the first mosaic. It's adorable! Your soup sounds delicious and makes me want to make some pumpkin soup from a new recipe I found. Hmmmm maybe this weekend... :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you change your tea towels and salt and pepper pots!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful mosaics and such great colours.

this is a beautiful post with stunning photographs. I love Autumn and younhave inspired me to put different things in my home! Thank you, really really beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteI want to come eat soup with you in your beautiful Autumny house! You really do love it as much as I do, and such gorgeous pictures to prove it. You decorate so tastefully. My experience with my English relatives is that they think I'm crazy about how much I love Autumn, and I always attributed it to the fact that they don't have our grossly hot summers, so Autumn isn't as much of a huge relief in terms of weather. But you've now blown my theory out of the water!
ReplyDeleteCan´t get enough of the colors and also getting really hungry too:)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely pictures.
