Marbles

I am changing my house over from autumn/winter decor to spring/summer decor at the moment and one of the items that has come out of winter hibernation is this little wooden bowl.  It was made for us by my cousin-in-law who is a wood-turner in his spare time and  he creates beautiful and tactile pieces.  I have been looking for just the right thing to go in it and after quite a lot of searching I found these old antique marbles.
I think they look perfect in the bowl and really do it justice.

I am linking up with Mary over at Mosaic Monday and Sally over at Blue Monday.  Just in case you are querying what's blue about my photos, the bag of marbles contained one special little blue one - you can see it in the bottom mosaic!

  2. Beautiful Diana and just right for the bowl. I have one with wooden ones in and it has a little wooden scoop with it too. The children love to play with it and fingers crossed none of them have put any in their mouth.

  4. I can't believe this post. I just pulled out my collection of antique marbles yesterday. When I was scrolling down to get to your post I saw the top of your wooden bowl and it made me think of my marbles and how they would look in a wooden bowl. Mine are in crystal now. What a coincidence. Loved your post and mosaic.

  12. I love those old marbles! Such great color and texture - I've seen similar ones occasionally and have always been tempted - but I didn't have such a great bowl crying out for something special!
