At last, after a long period of inactivity I finally have something happening on my work desk, so I decided to join in with WOYWW - why not pop over and see what other people have been up to!
I got my gelli plate out, did some printing, and had a fun afternoon messing about with paint! I chose a colour scheme loosely based on the two little wooden hearts in the photo - Paynes grey and Neutral grey, Naples Yellow, Burnt Sienna and Portrait Pink - I 'm quite pleased at how they work together.
The sketchbook page is made up of the leftover bits of prints - I think they show the colour palette quite well.
Some close-up shots of what I have been doing with the gelli prints in my sketchbook.
An almost finished page - it needs something else but not sure what!
I love how the colours look together.... so gentle and natural
ReplyDeleteand I also love that you actually used your gelli plate prints - and so beautifully...

Fantastic work! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is not a palette I would usually go for. So I love to see how wonderful this is. It inspires me to use other colors too :)

That range of colours are certainly pleasing to the eye Diana, in fact I was looking at tops in similar shades when I was out this morning, shopping for my holiday.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. I wish you would do a video on your printing technique.

ReplyDeleteWow stunning!
ReplyDeleteGreat pages! Love your designs. SueC#94
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours. I love both those trees you've got there. Thanks for the peep.
ReplyDeleteI'm not here as part of WOYWW (need to start taking part again!) so you don't need to stop by my desk (it's not there!) Just came to nosy at your gelli prints, am loving seeing how we all use it so differently :)
I don't think your last page needs anything personally - that could be framed and look just wonderful as is. If you feel it does though... what about a quote close to your heart? It looks a little like a lone tree on a planet to me.
Ohhh... I like your gelli prints much better than what I've seen other people do with gelli plates. Wow! Great palette too!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! The colours are gorgeously natural. Happy 200th Wednesday. :o)

I love the first picture with the hearts.... just as it is, the colours are very earthy. Thanks for your comments earlier, good luck with the buttons, dont see why you cant use the moulds maybe give them a swill around with some boiling water!

What a gorgeous palette - so rich and earthy, makes me want to just crawl into it. Boy, when you decide to get motivated, you don't mess around! I love everything you've done there, and that last one with the tree is so wonderful, that's a tough one. I wouldn't do much, that's for sure. Maybe just a few more of those paint drips in the upper left.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful palette! I usually play with brighter colors on my Gelli plate but I'm really loving the more earthy tones you have here. Love your tree painting! I think it is perfect just as it is. It would be perfect as an Earth Day print. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool prints and combinations incorporated in your journal. Really like the calendar of months incircled at the base of the tree! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe gelli prints are very striking, Diana with really interesting textures. Do you know where you can buy a gelli plate in the UK? I am quite tempted to add this technique to my to try list!

I love the colour tones you've used!! I could actually live with your colour swatches as a picture on my wall...I love patterns and they just appeal to me. But I've got a big ask, Diana......if you haven't got any purpose in mind for it, please would you consider selling me that hare and spirals picture? I have a real thing about both of those. If you feel this is cheeky, I'm sorry but it just struck a chord with me. Email me back with a yay or nay if you so wish. Thank you!!!!
