Silk Paper and Sketchbook Work

On my desk this week are a couple of sketchbook pages I've done using some of the silk paper I made recently - you can see it here.  The ideas are about boundaries and garden history - the background paper is old pianola music - I found several rolls of it in a flea market quite a while ago and have been keen to use it for a project.  The cocoon with the eyelets in it is now squashed since having to shut the sketchbook - should have thought that one through!
I'm linking up to WOYWW - if you want to see what's on other people's desks this week why not pop over and have a peek!

  1. You have such an eye for tone and patterns and a real knack of putting odd things together that just work! That pianola paper is brilliant - it wouldn't even have dawned on me to pick it up. My loss!

  6. Stunning pages. I was so taken by the silk paper, so went back and looked at the post you linked to, and then checked out the link to the silk paper making article. It sounds so fascinating, I will have to try it some time soon. Have to search where to find the cocoon strippings.

  12. Oh, this is lovely, Diana... How wonderfully imaginative of you to use the old pianola paper for art!! What an absolute joy. Lovely to think that once it served to create musical art, and now it's got another life and bringing delight in the form of visual art! That's very special. It's also very attractive with its randomly placed slots.

Fabulous subtle colours as usual, and beautifully set off by the contrast of the copper leaf. Just gorgeous.

Thanks for your lovely comment, and yes, thank you, I am feeling a lot better now, although after tonight's felt making efforts I may end up on the recliner again tomorrow!! I'll be posting about the class in the next day or two, once my piece is rinsed out and dried. So glad you liked my masterboard, too. I am looking forward to working on the two secondary ones - amazing how many times heat embossing can be recycled onto new sheets and I wonder how long I can keep it up?!!

    Happy WOYWW,

  17. Ooh, I love these. I've been tempted by those piano rolls before - now that I've seen you put them to use I'll buy one next time I have the opportunity! Your squished cocoon made me laugh! So something I would do....

  18. I just saw this Diana! We've been away for 6 days and I'm having a hard time catching up! I LOVE this! Your silk paper is so cool and I love the piano rolls for a background. I love the picture of the fabric scrap though the donut bead! Great idea, I will probably steal that one :)! Have a great weekend.
