Midnight Garden

Some sketchbook pages on my desk this week, for WOYWW.
The theme being the garden at night - one of life's pleasures is sitting in the garden as dusk falls and seeing the changing colours and shapes, the moths and  other creatures that appear - we have a hedgehog that has been visiting us over the last few weeks - and even the scent of some of the plants seems to intensify later in the evening!

  1. On these are beautiful and completely redolent. My mother always grew stocks because she said they scented her night garden, ibuy them as cut flowers for her now but the smell doesn't have the same magic for her poor old memory.

  5. I love these beautiful compositions. I get the impression that you seem to put things together with so much ease. You make it look so simple . Where as I sometimes spend ages compiling things before I am happy. I love simple compositions but always seem to go one step (or maybe three or four) to far.

  10. I love the scraps of that old ledger book (I think?)...where on earth did you get that from. Copperplate handwriting really was a sign of the times, eh? Again, I adore what you've done with the prints...sigh....they are gorgeous.
And we sit out until the night falls too...there's a lot of honeysuckle in our hedge and it is almost overwhelming in the twilight. We have bats too - it's amazing watching them whizz around, just skimming the fence and hedge!

  12. Oh how gorgeous, Diana. You can feel the night falling! So beautiful. Thank you for your lovely comment, and I'm glad you like the faux leather. It's really easy to do - the hardest part is taking care not to tear it when it's very soft and vulnerable. I'm afraid it will be a while before I can reveal what I am going to do with it because I don't want certain people to see until they've received it! Thank you for your kind words about my chemo, too. I just can't wait for it to be over now. Once I'm past the half way mark I think it will be easier to cope with. It's like snakes and ladders.

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. I absolutely agree with you about being out in the garden. I love it later in the season as it's getting dusk and the bats arrive. As I stare into the fading light I can see them flying around catching insects, it's a lovely sight.
Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 28

  18. I love the colours you are working with and yes, you are right, the garden is lovely at dusk, very peaceful, especially when it's been a warm day. How brilliant to have a hedgehog visit, I think they are getting increasingly rare these days. Enjoy him.
    Thanks for your visit.

  20. Beautiful fragments. You're right, the garden is a wonderful place at night. Very calm and kind of mysterious. I think you're really capturing that here.
