Enjoying Spring!
I wrapped some sari silk around a hoop of wire and then loosely wound some vivid green wire around that. Once decorated it looked rather pretty on it's own and would have looked good hanging on a cupboard handle, but not knowing when to stop I made a background from an old book cover and attached the wire circle to it. I think I have to make another hoop without a background now!
I am linking up with Julia over at What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday.
Very Spring like colour combination. It would make a beautiful crown for a May Queen.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you don't know when to stop!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much movement on this page - I can imagine the butterflies dancing off the page
It's such a pretty piece and so full of pretty details. Another favourite!

What beautiful colours you've used there, so pretty and perfect for Spring. Hang on, as I got snowed and hailed on yesterday, maybe you should be showing your wintry ice inspired work instead 😃😃

Lovely colours used there, Diana. Well done. The circlet is lovely on its own - but set off well against the background.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Oh what a lovely spring vibe to that project. Happy WOYWW. Susanne #38
ReplyDeleteLove the card. I like how you have stamped butterflies and then add three dimensional ones too. It makes the card really pop.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

This is very beautiful and really spring-like! I love the loop of ribbon over wire! You could use it on it's own but it really adds dimension to the book cover! I love it, Diana! It's great that spring is here!!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks beautiful Diana. I bought three flower hoops on our last trip to London. I have put them around embroidery hoops that are displaying textile pieces.
ReplyDeleteYours is far prettier and you've given he the idea of adding buttons to them

Aww love those colours! Really cheery spring shades and I love how you've incorporated the sari silk. Had a hectic day wet-felting loads of new background pieces so just dropping in for a quick snoop! Thanks for stopping by my desk earlier. Happy crafting, Max #37 :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat a springtime wonder! This is exquisite! Love the up close shots, so much to see and admire!
ReplyDeleteOne fabulous experiment turned into a work of art Diana. Love the results, just stunning! Xx
ReplyDeleteOh Diana, yet again I let out a loud "Wow!" when I opened your blog post! Yet again you prove the point that you will never stop impressing me! This is utterly gorgeous and scrumptious and what fabulous spring colours. The hoop is an inspiration, and I love seeing those gorgeous little green beads again. It's a feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment - your advice about the titanium white certainly did work! I'm going to try going over them again with the yellow and see how it goes. Overpainting doesn't seem to spoil them as I thought it might. My new brushes are great, which really helps. I quite agree about the backround colour - I'd have chosen dark green too but my hubby wanted them red with orange inside the boxes, so red it is, and I have to work with that. There is an example of painting on a red background on the cover of the book and I've taken my inspiration from that. Well done remembering about my cutting machine after all this time! I am looking forward to the prospect of being able to produce some stuff with it again as it has lots of potential.
Happy belated WOYWW,

This is such a sweet "welcome, Spring" piece - love it! I just got some lovely wreath dies, which this inspires me to use (and heaven knows I need that inspiration!) Plus I have sari silk, but never sure how to tackle to - this is a fabulous application for that beautiful material. Thanks, as always, for your wonderful nudge into creativity! xxx Lynn
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely lighter-than-air garland... the curly wire and tiny beads bring that touch of zingy fresh green that is such a delight of spring, and all the butterflies look ready to flutter away in the next breeze. The textured background is beautiful too.

Truly Diana your art work is stunningly beautiful and very inspiring. Always so delicate and beautifully photographed. I struggle to get a good shot of any of my projects must look into photography. Have wonderful week and yes I do plan to post a pic of the finished project. Hopefully by next woyww.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece. I could wander through a shop of your creations all day. Might have to rest with a spot of tea, but then I'd lovingly ooh and aah over each piece. Creative Blessings! Kelly #52
ReplyDeleteWOW...a gorgeous design. Love the great colors.
ReplyDeleteYour Spring picture is lovely - it's the little details that draw me in! Hopelessly late at visiting again this week - busy with Ben, curtains and lunch out with Sister in law - all good fun!
ReplyDeleteYes you do - one to wear on your head and cavort around your yard in! I'm picturing you in something really flowy and Stevie Nicksish! It really is beautiful - I just love old book covers as a base, and of course your beautiful detail just takes it to another level.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I hope you share the other one without the backing. I would love to see it. I love the beautiful butterflies. Are they stamped and cut out or are they embellishments that look so effective.
