There's nothing going on on my work desk this week but this is what's going on with my studio cupboard - I've been busy sorting and organizing all the treasures and curiosities that I've collected over the years and I've now utilised my collection of old jars too!
Here are some of the treasures that were stuffed haphazardly in all sorts of places and are now neatly sorted and easy to find - seashells, clay pipes and pipe stems, sea glass and sea china, chess pieces, antique spectacles and bits of an old dead crab!

Talking of pipe stems by dear blog friend Lynn from One I Made Earlier Today sent me a lovely little surprise gift - this funny little chap is made from an old clay pipe and will now be sitting on my desk keeping me company when I work! Thank you so much Lynn - I now need to think of a name for him!

loved looking at your strange collections :) They are fab! You little clay man looks a bit like a Clanger - you could make him a clanger coat :) Have a lovely week. Soojay 23 xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with Soojay, a Clanger is what immediately sprang to mind! I think he should be called Josiah..you know, the Wedgewood, clay, pottery connection 😊
ReplyDeleteEven your jars are works of art Diana...you have a magic touch 💖

I call them Clangers and I have them dotted about my workroom Diana.
ReplyDeleteI love all your treasures, you've got such an array of goodies that are so different to what we normally see around the desks.
Have a good week

What a brilliant collection you have, although I'm not sure about the bits of dead crab!!!!! They certainly look beautiful in their jars.

ReplyDeleteHi Diana, what a wonderful collection of 'stuff' to just sit and browse through. Love your new desk-mate! Have a great week, hugs, Shaz #9 xx
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you should say curiosities as that is what your pic's reminded me of an 'Old Curiosity Shop'. And I am not at least suprised that you have a dead crab in your studio.
ReplyDeleteAn unusual assortment of goodies. Cute little creature created for you. Maybe call him Stubbie. Lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

What a lovely collection of treasures. Just the sort of thing I liked to rummage through, as a child, in my Uncle's shed.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing collection (and wonderful photos of them)! I am specially intrigued by the clay pipes and loved how you used them last time!
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought Clangers too - I love the way you have contained all your collected bits and bobs! x Jo
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your collections .... I think they look great in your assortment of jars.
ReplyDeleteA clanger yes.... can't remember any of their names though... did they have names .... No I think not... but there was the Soup Dragon. I remember the strange noises they made... Firmin! that might be a good name? It's the name of the clanger model maker! His wife knitted their little jackets.... Ahh nostalgia!

Oh my goodness, I want to go shopping in your studio! Those pipes! You're a girl after my own heart, which I already knew. Isn't it so satisfying to everything organized and visible?
ReplyDeleteI love how you've organised your stuff, it has made me realise I need to do the same then maybe I could find them when I want to use them Lol! Happy crafty belated woyww, Angela x 24
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Diana, what a simply delicious collecton of goodies, and all in your signature subtle shades, set off by the touch of brilliant red! This collection is an art work in itself, especially displayed and arranged as you have done. I wish I was able to get out and about and go beach combing and other exploring and be able to pick up similar treasures... I had not come across the use of pipe stems in art until I saw your recent piece and thought, "How imaginative is that?"
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment - I am now fully recovered and can only think it was a 24-hour minor inner ear infection or something like that. Horrible while it lasted but soon over! The decorating is now finished and I am thrilled with how it came out - seeing my vision becoming a reality is marvellous and it couldn't be better. Our room is genuine art deco (the house was built in 1925) and has an original art deco fireplace, and I wanted to emphasise this theme. We still have a few things to bring back in but we are using it again and loving the new uncluttered feel.
We've had an extremely busy couple of days because as well as the decorating and other odd jobs being done, the men came at very short notice yesterday to replace our blown double glazed units with nice new clear ones, and we had to move at high speed to clear the rooms ready for them. I am therefore very behind with all my WOYWW comments as I didn't have any time to be on the computer yesterday.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #28
