I have been busy getting the house decorated for Autumn and arty crafty stuff has had to take a back seat. This is my mantle piece and my method of decorating is anything orange/brown or autumny gets chucked on it!
Although busy changing over from summer to autumn I did get a chance to finish a tag that had been hanging around - it had been left half done when I had no idea what to do to it next! I used Ranger black Enamel Accents on some of the die cuts and I really like the hard glossy effect of it - I wasn't sure how shiny it would turn out to be but it's certainly better than I expected.
I'm linking up with Julia over at What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday.
Happy WOYWW. Gorgeous Autumn decorations. I love the colours of the season. Those die cuts have turned out fantastic. Ali x #10
ReplyDeleteOooh, that tag is all mysterious...conjures up images of moonlight assignations! I love it. And I just knew that your autumn decorating would be as fab as your crafting, you just have an eye for colour.

Hi Diana, love the tag. Like your review of the Enamel Accents, I was looking for something that gave a black glossy finis, for bears noses, lol, so I shall be getting some of that. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #6 xxx

ReplyDeleteI've really been MIA lately but I love your mantle and the tag. I've not used the enamel accents (since I haven't been in my craft room in weeks!) but I love the effect you got. I think I'll eventually get back to my room but I have no idea when. Hope all is well with you!
ReplyDeleteDiana, your mantle is absolutely gorgeous! I haven't done any decorating outside of putting some mums in the front porch pots! Ok, so that tag was out of when you didn't know what to do next?????? Boy, I wish I could do that! LOLO It's beautiful and I love that blue! :) Blessings to you! Felicia #35

Diana. I love the fact your mantle is decorated for autumn. I use a very similar approach for Christmas, but have never thought of keeping it going with different elements through the year. I am tempted now! Your tag is gorgeous, those blues and blacks together are very moody. As you say the glossy accents worked really well. Elaine x
ReplyDeleteYours is the second blog I've visited this afternoon where someone has decorated their mantelpiece for autumn - my friend Connie in the USA (Crafty Home Cottage) has done something similar and I've just told her what a lovely idea I thought it was! Everybody seems to do it for Christmas but I've not seen it done at other seasons before, and the autumn colours are so rich and vibrant. Your blue tag is fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and your nice comment - the first time I saw Zengems I thought they were stuck on afterwards, too! It's amazing how realistic they can look with a bit of shading and highlighting in the right place. I was amazed how easy they were to do, too - lots of really good Youtube tutorials and I was soon well away! My new iPad arrived yesterday and I'm already wondering why I didn't get one ages ago! I am having such fun with it. I haven't done a great deal yet but have been downloading various apps for it. I am mugging up on an awesome one called Procreate for digital art (great Youtube tutorials on that too) - I actually enjoy learning new things like this and it keeps the grey cells going!
My appointment was OK - no cancer found on the scan, thank goodness, but why they couldn't have told me sooner and spared me all that worry, I don't know... They did find some small blood clots in my lungs (nothing too serious) and I now have to take aspirin to thin my blood a bit. I was pretty fed up with the way the GP surgery handled the whole thing and thought it was pretty bad that they missed the telephone appointment they'd set up and I've heard nothing since. My surgeon wasn't over-impressed, either.
Thank you - we bad a lovely day yesterday in N.Devon - a tiny hamlet just outside Barnstaple, with some old friends from Plymouth days last century (goodness that sounds funny...) - lots of catching up over a delicious meal in a really adorable snug little cottage.
Have a good week, and happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #18
Your autumn decorations look lovely, and I love the drama of your tag. The layered diecuts look amazing, especially with that glossy black shine amongst them.

Oh yum, your page is always a feast for my eyes. Love the cool colours of the tag contrasted with the Autumnal decoration. Thanks for your concern with respect to anaemia, I have never tested positive for this but will make sure I eat more dark chocolate for the iron anyways - LOL - told my GP I did this and she seemed quite happy about it. I actually slept last night which has made a huge difference (not slept through the night in ages - don't ask me why) so that sure helped with work today plus I have my car back so no busses this week. In fact I feel better all round today, who knows???? Thanks for visiting me BJ#37
ReplyDeleteAll things beautiful as always.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Autumnal display and I adore your tag. It evokes a midnight walk in the garden.
