I've tried to keep the arty crafty momentum going this week and ended up with a few Christmas cards - it's not even November yet, so I'm feeling pretty smug that I've made a start already! I've used black glitter card by Dovecraft - it's amazing stuff and doesn't shed any glitter even though it's extremely sparkly - ideal for me as I obsessively hate stray glitter!
The church card was going to be a Halloween card but it somehow ended up looking more Christmassy - probably helped by the addition of 'snow'!
I am linking up with Julia over at What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - pop over if you'd like to see what other people have been up to on their desks this week.
Both your cards are so gorgeous, dear Diana , such fairytales both, and the church is adorable !! Also fantastic backgrounds with the gold leafing and I love your snow !!

Oooh, these are dark and sophisticated Christmas cards - I love 'em! You have such an eye for colour and design - if I was a card maker, yours is the style I'd want to emulate but know for a fact, would fail miserably!!
ReplyDeleteHope you're keeping well and happy, I often think about you. If we're back in Winchester ever, maybe we can arrange a meet-up!

Gorgeous close ups and fabulous cards; so classy! I love everything about them! Happy WOYWW Sarah #20
ReplyDeleteDiana, your creations with the black glitter card are totally gorgeous! The top one could be for any season of the year. I'm ashamed to say that I've been pretty much AWOL in blogland myself lately and hadn't even noticed your absence... how awful is that? Nice to be back though, and nice to see you back too. We had lunch with old friends a few weeks ago and I gave her your blog link - she's doing her embroidery diploma, having done C&G and I thought she'd be inspired! Thank you for your great comment - the kittens are adorable, aren't they! Even when they do pull off a whole roll of loo paper lol! My studio won't stay tidy for long, even if it isn't being used... but I do feel better for having tidied it. In a way I'm glad the hernia has returned because at least they will be closer to doing something about it than before. I want to get a proper repair done asap.

ReplyDeleteHi Diana, thanks for the visit to mine. I love your cards and I did think the church would make a good Halloween image. I have to say the black against that gorgeous gilded background is brilliant. Happy crafty woyww, Angela x7x

ReplyDeleteAh Diana, those are really beautiful cards! I know exactly what you mean about stray glitter... gets everywhere! Have a lovely week, Heather #32
ReplyDeleteThank you for your return visit, Diana, and for your very kind words about my Zentangles! Praise from you is praise indeed, and much appreciated! I'm so glad you like them. Now I'm into 3D via shading and highlights, I'm not sure I ever want to go back to flat ones! I definitely forgive you for getting distracted by the kittens because they are totally distracting and it's surprising I get anything done at all with them around! About my friend - while they were here, I showed her your stuff on Pinterest and sent her your blog address - like me, she absolutely loved your garden pieces and your tiny moss ones.

Beautiful details and the overall effect is stunning too! The snow looks real and the leaves frosty! I know what you mean about stray glitter - or microbeads! You just want them to stay put! Thanks for your visit yesterday. Enjoy the rest of the week! zsuzsa #11
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, thanks so very much for popping over and saying hi and leaving some love,... esp your comment. I wasn’t happy with my calligraphy but we are always our own worst critic.
ReplyDeleteI love your cards, and am with you on stray glitter, I need to make some more, it’s planned but so are many other things. I’ve about twenty made and even did one up last night to go u with family as they’re not coming home, I’m needing about three or more times than twenty so need to get a wriggle on ;-)
Happy belated woyww,

The snowy church is so fabulous against the gilded flourish - and both cards have great drama to them with that shimmering black card taking centre stage. Christmas is certainly looking very glamorous round your way at the moment!

I agree with Jan on these - totally beautiful. If only I could do that. But like Jan, I am afraid I would fail too. You are a clever lady!! x Jo #23
ReplyDeleteI can see how that church could have gone either way! And that wreath - I love them both, I think there's not enough black used in art (I just now came to this conclusion looking at your cards). And oh my gosh, I have SUCH a love/hate relationship with glitter, and embossing powder as well, I can't stand it when it doesn't stay where it's supposed to, and I find it on my face for days! I'll have to try that brand.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are stunning. I share your dislike of loose glitter, it seems to get everywhere. The glitter card you used sounds ideal. Elizabeth x #28
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! The black and gold go so well together, and the glitter is so pretty! Sorry I'm so late this week! Thank you for your earlier visit, Lindart #26
