I've been doodling and using up little bits of old velvet.
Little mossy seed heads on old postcards - inspired by my lawn that's about 80% moss with a few weeds and bits of grass thrown in!

Beautiful postcard Diana, I love how the velvet replicates the inner flower perfectly and the seeds add so much to it's detail. Perfection! Thank you so much for sharing WOYWW.

Just lovely, Diana! I am so happy to see you making lovely mossy stuff from that glorious green velvet again - I've really missed it! So what if your lawn is more moss than grass - if it inspires you to make art, it's worth it. I hope you are continuing to recover from your health problems - I am much better than I was but quite a long way from back to normal just yet, and not up to joining WOYWW yet but wanted to see what you were up to this week.

The words that come to mind (after wow!) are 'unique' and 'unconventional' followed by 'creative' and 'inspiring'. You never fail to amaze me with your outside-the-box ideas, Diana!
ReplyDeleteThat's so beautiful Diana - the old postcard just makes the whole thing work. We discovered a new photographer recently who does these amazing still life pics with a story behind them. Search for Georgina Hughes photography in Google images, the first few are what I'm on about. We bought the one with the pink hydrangeas in, it's in our bedroom!

ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Love those magical velvety crinkles and the vintage postcard looks amazing with the stamens over the spidery handwriting. My neighbour's iron gate has the most extraordinary lichens on it, and I keep meaning to photograph them... this will kick me into action, I think.

Oh wow, Diana, I'm always so impressed by how you think outside the box. Love the effect. Have a good week. Sarah #9
ReplyDeleteDiana, you always create the most stunning things,- like this mossy card, totally beautiful - and love the fibers you added, with the pearls, to the velvet.
ReplyDeleteI so admire your art !!
Hugs, Dorthe
I've just looked up Rebecca Szeto - amazing! Thanks for putting her on my radar!
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for the late visit. A huge storm knocked out my electricity and internet about the time I began visiting. I finally gave up waiting for it to come back on and went to bed.
ReplyDeleteColor me incredibly impressed with your gorgeous postcard. That velvet flower and the seed heads from your garden, and the doodles, turned this from lovely to INCREDIBLE.
Happy WOYWW from #3.
Hi Diana, your pieces are always so visually stunning, and so tactile. Really love these, they do indeed scream MOSS at you! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz XxX #10

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love that so much! You've done such wonderful things with that green velvet, and this postcard is fabulous. I'll get back to the studio someday....
ReplyDeleteI'm late getting round desks again this week - just having a breather after watching the royal wedding before the cup final!! That green velvet is such a fabulous colour. Beautiful work. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you for your good wishes for my recovery, Diana. I am doing OK. Managed to get to the County Show on Fri. and today to a family BBQ! So I've had plenty of sun. I am pretty tired now after that lot, though! I haven't a lot on this week so I'll be able to rest. Keep an eye open for my blog in the next few days as I'll be blogging about the County Show, and knowing your love for moths, there's something on there you should see - it was stunning! I've already got ideas as to how I might adapt the idea...
