Autumn Ferns and WOYWW

I love ferns - they have to my one of my favourite plants, and right now the New Forest is full of beautiful bracken that's turning that rich, deep, Autumn rust colour.
Currently sitting on my desk (still waiting to be cleared away!) are some Autumn themed card toppers I've made before we go rushing into Winter and Christmas - I usually add a sentiment at the last moment when I know who the card is for.

I think I'm going to add the die cut initial of the recipient to this one as the centre seems a little too plain.

Using up all the left over bits - I think the tag is too big for the scale of the foliage but I was too lazy to die cut a new one!

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. These are gorgeous Diana, all that beautiful texture. I love the ferns too and have found they stamp well as they have good texture that takes the ink. I'm like you I don't always know when I make something who it will be for so often leave the sentiment bit for later. Look like we must have been logging into the stamping ground together this morning. Better go now so sending hugs and wishing you a happy woyww, Angela x15x

  5. Hi Diana, yes, I too often leave off a sentiment until I'm about to use a card. Makes life simpler, I find.Love all the detail and texture in your pieces, they really are stunning. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #18 X

  7. These are exquisite! I love autumn and all its colours, walking through rustling leaves and all the colours the season brings. I would never have thought of making something like this - pure genius. Obviously I recognise the oak leaves but what makes the flowers in the centre please? Did you hot glue them all on?

ps hope the hand is improving

  9. I always know I will see something exquisite when I visit your blog, Diana - and I thought that even before seeing Neet's comment above using the same word - because there's no other way to describe your art! I love the crackle texture in the background and the delicate stamping that almost looks watermarked. Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #20

  10. You've brought everything that's wonderful about Autumn together in each piece Diana, my favourite season as i'm an Autumn Baby, no matter the rain it will never dampen my love for it. I love the idea of adding an initial into the centre, I can see rich coppery tones within it. Life is too short to go changing the sizes of tags, I just darken the edges to make it look smaller, it usually does the trick hee hee!
Thank you for sharing so much loveliness again Diana you really do treat us.

  11. Beautiful autumn cards Diana. As usual the detail is amazing. My great niece is called Fern, so I must admit to liking it too. I always find a way of including an image of some on her birthday cards. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #8

  12. Oh, beautiful! These autumn gatherings are simply lovely, Diana - I love the subtle veining on the leaves and the tiny stems peeking out of the arrangements, so delicate. The crackled backgrounds work so well, and I really like having that extra space on the tag to see more of the gorgeous blended colours there. The furled up fronds of fern are fabulous (sorry - got a bit alliterative there!).

  13. Visiting your blog absolutely takes my breath away. The way you capture detail, colour and composition is simply beautiful and I don't think I am alone in my awe of your talent. Have a lovely week surrounded by your beautiful bracken.

  14. Oh Diana... Every time I visit you I am sighing and going wow, wow... Just gorgeous!!! I love your autumn foliage. The bracken curls up just like that at this time of the year. All absolutely fabulous pieces... Thank you for your visit and your kind words about my PIP - yes, mightily relieved! It's such an ordeal, but I don't have to think about it for 10 years now! Regarding the Ninja Foodi, do get one! This isn't an item to be put in a cupboard. It needs to be out on top because it's quite big and heavy, and if it's out, you will use it. Also, you will get rid of the slow cooker because this machine will replace it. You can slow cook, pressure cook and air fry with it, and also use it to steam and sauté although I don't use that feature so much. It's a doddle to use and I can't imagine how I managed before I got it! I'm glad you like my Tudor gown. I'm making pretty good progress on it and the next step is the sleeves. Our kitties certainly rule the roost, don't they! Seeing my hubby sitting on the floor and Ruby lounging on his chair, just had to be photographed - too good to miss!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  15. Sorry I’m late. Never too late though, to get an eyeful of loveliness. We;; now, I have some of these dies and haven't come near achieving this sort of loveliness. You put it in my mind to try harder. Or whine at you to do a workshop or two - I mean, things like proportion of tag to die cut - gimme a break, if I do think about such things, it’s always at a waaay too late stage!
