Beaded Christmas Flower and WOYWW

My very talented friend Felicity from the little Craft and Chat group that I run kindly taught us all how to make this beaded Christmas Rose.  I'ts the first time I've attempted 'proper' beading despite using copious amounts of beads for pretty much everything I make from collages and embroideries to cards and tags!
It's now been added to the Christmas tree and just needs the leaf attaching.
It was fun and I will certainly be looking up more beading 'recipes' on line.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and a big thank you for all you kind, lovely comments and support over the past year.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. Diana your beaded Christmas Rose is so beautiful. It looks magnificent gently resting on your tree. I love using beads on my embellishments, it's my down time activity. Did you use mono filament or wire..? I use wire for mine as I love how you can manipulate things more. A beautiful share before Christmas. Wishing you and yours all the wonder of the season. 2. That is beautiful Diana! I quite like beading but don't know if I'd have to patience to complete a project like that. Have a marvellous Christmas with your folks and all the best for a happy and healthy 2020!

  7. Wow, the beaded Christmas rose is outstanding, Diana! Is there no end to your talents?!! Thank you for your visit and your kind comments about my Tudor gown and drawings. Regarding the former, if you pop back, I have just updated the photos with better ones that a friend took this afternoon, complete with the jewellery I wore. I am really keen to do more of the drawings which combine Celtic art and Zentangle. They were really fun to do. I just wish the photos did them better justice because the gold really sets them off!

I think Brushos (and my favourite Infusions - more subtle colours than Brushos) and paint pouring tend to be terrifying because of the lack of control. I think we are probably alike in tending towards the more meticulous, controlled sort of work than the loose, let it all hang out kind!! However, going crazy and letting the art do itself once in a while is quite good for us! One day I shall try the paint pouring, because I find it so fascinating and love the results people are getting. I do wish my friend lived nearer because we are arty sisters and both adore colour and texture and having fun!

Regarding my tooth, I wasn't even aware there was a problem until the X-ray revealed it. He said it is a very small area of decay but it must be nipped in the bud or it will get worse. I don't think anything awful will happen before January as it isn't causing me any problems at the moment. As for the bladder clinic, I am trying to do the techniques she taught us, and hope for the best! Because I have some bladder paralysis it may not work so well for me and I may need a scan and some further help but we shall have to wait and see. I'm not too worried about it, though.

Have a lovely Christmas, and happy WOYWW,

  8. That is quite an exquisite beaded flower and looks great as a tree decoration! It must have been very fiddly to put it together - looks like your hand has completely recovered from your surgery earlier in the year, which is great news! Thanks for your visit earlier, Diana - wishing you a wonderful Christmas and I hope to see lots of your beautiful creations in 2020! xx zsuzsa #19

  9. That really is a Christmas Rose. I wanted real ones in my wedding bouquet but for some reason they couldn't get them at the time. Gosh, that was a long long time ago. Yours looks so pretty nestled against the needles of the tree. Hope we get to see the leaf when you have made it.
Well, another year has come and gone almost and so I will take the opportunity to thank you for the friendship over the year (and the charms) and wish you and yours a Very Happy Christmas and all the Best for the Coming Year.
    Hugs, Neet 11 xx

  12. Hi Diana, Sorry I am late visiting. I'm doing flying visits round desks, as I've been AWOL for so long and wanted to catch up and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! You really just have the patience of a saint to do all that beading. It does indeed look beautiful. Have a lovely week Heather xx #31

  15. It looks way too fiddly for my patience levels, but I'm so glad someone is able to persevere and create something so delightful. How lovely it looks amidst the pine branches. I hope you are finding time for rest and relaxation as well as fun and creativity over this festive season. I'm still in Christmas hibernation (don't come out fully until after 12th Night on 6th January!), but am trying to do a bit of catching up with people even so. Happy New Year!
