Happy New Year

A Happy New Year to you all.  I hope the holidays were peaceful and happy for you.
Partly due to the festivities and partly due to the fact my hand is still suffering complications from a simple operation I had back in the autumn, I have done no crafting over the holidays at all. As I have nothing currently on my desk to show here are a few things I made before Christmas...

Gift boxes to hold cash and gift cards for my nephews and brother-in-law...

...a few home made cards...

... and some crocheted cotton facial scrubbies for my sister and a couple of friends - I bundled them up in a little strip of stamped card.   Hopefully no more buying cotton wool and make-up wipes!
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW.

  1. Happy 2020 Diana. My friend Mo made some of the crotchet pads and I gave them to my nieces for Christmas. I like the gift boxes you made. They are much nicer than the shop bought money envelopes I gave.
Hope your hand continues to improve.

  2. Am sorry the hand isn’t right, cross for you because they make out it’s such a breeze of an op. I’ve had both hands done now and the second was much, much longer in the ‘getting back to normal’ sort of healing. It was suggested that it was in my head at one point! I hope time can bring it right Diana, and you won’t need any further scalpel type intervention. Tbh gal, I think unless you put a lottery size wad of cash in those boxes, the boxes are worth far more than the pressies, they are so lovely.

  14. Oh my goodness, these are so glorious, Diana. The exquisitely intricate holly leaves and berries are wonderful, but it's those wintry fir trees which really capture my heart. Perfect gift wallets! Happy New Year to you.

  15. Gorgeous projects as always, Diana. You've really captured that wonderful frosty winter effect! So nice to see you doing make-up remover pads too - you probably remember me doing them a few months ago. Certainly saves on the cotton wool. Your presentation is second to none... Always steps any gift up to the next level!

Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment. You are right, Ruby is determined all right! Lily puts up with a lot. Every now and then Ruby gets fed up with being No. 2 kitty and beats her sister up - lots of chasing around the house, fur flying, growling and hissing! Then they kiss and make up and snuggle up together again. Typical sibling rivalry, I suppose!

Glad you like what's on the desk this week. I'm looking forward to using the new generic leaf background stamp. It's got a Chinese label on it so I assume it originated with Ali Express. After I bought the microglaze I found a Youtube video on how to make your own for a fraction of the cost! I think it was just Vaseline and rubbing alcohol but you could probably search for it. I haven't used it yet, except for on the envelope for my friend's birthday card, so it wouldn't smudge if it got wet in the post. I need to experiment with this stuff and see how different media behave on top of it.

I am sorry you are still suffering with your hand. That's too bad - and very frustrating for a creative person! I agree about the NHS. Most of the staff are brilliant but you have to keep on your toes because they often make mistakes with great confidence. I had to stand my ground about lying on my tummy for the CT scan because the woman was quite adamant that they never did that, despite Mr. Daniels telling me that was what he wanted. His secretary phoned me yesterday to say he's now seen the scan result, and wants to see me in outpatients, and they've set up the soonest appointment possible, at the end of the month, so let's hope we get some action now!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  19. Hi again, Diana - please don't worry about the make-up remover pads - I don't take any credit myself as I found the idea on Youtube. I'm not surprised you didn't have any joy with my old blog. Blogger got rid of 8 years' worth of photos at a single stroke! I started to replace them but realised it was a thankless task and I'd be here till Doomsday, and anyway people reported they still couldn't see them, so I cut my losses and started my new Wordpress blog back in April. I made the pads a few months ago - here's the link: https://shoshiplatypus.com/eco-project-phase-2-and-woyww-534/

I doubt I shall be making any DIY micro glaze for a while because I've only just bought a jar. Google it and I'm sure you'll find it.

  21. Hi Diana, thanks for your lovely reply - so glad you like my little make-up remover pads! You are right, my Blogger experience was horrendous. Before all the photos disappeared, my third party blog post editor (which was brilliant - far better than Blogger's own clunky rubbish) stopped working because Google/Blogger changed something. The photos disappearing was the last straw, and I got totally fed up with them. I'm glad I abandoned ship. Wordpress is a steeper learning curve and current experience shows I'm not there yet - my apologies for your comments not being allowed. I have discovered that my spam checker is a tad too efficient for its own good, and you are not the only person who has experienced problems with this. I shall clearly have to check this on a daily basis to make sure people are not being blocked. I am now moderating your comment and it should go through OK. As far as your "chattering" is concerned, it's no problem to me lol!! so please keep it up! I'll try giving Wordpress a rap over the knuckles and hope for the best!

  22. Oh dear, that hand is taking its time to recover isn't it. I have you in my prayer list now so hope that it helps. I really do believe in the power of prayer and feel that I have been helped recently, patience is what was needed - I am now on my third day of no pain - not consecutive but three days in one week is marvellous.
I love those money packets that you made, they are so beautiful and perfect for any age. Real works of art.
I take it that these scrubbies are washable so that you are not harming the environment by throwing other materials into the waste. What a wonderful idea - something I must give a try too.
Well, Diana, I do sincerely hope that your hand starts to improve, and quickly, so that you can return to your normal level of crafting.
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx
