At long last I've finally found some motivation to open my sketchbook, and I've been working on an old theme of mine: the garden in winter. Pussy Willow is always a favourite at this time of year so when I came across an old stencil of it that I don't think I've ever used it kick started me to get some ideas down!
I stenciled the pussy willow, then covered the buds with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with micro beads - I was trying to get a frosty feel.
I'm linking up with WOYWW, so why not pop over if you would like to see what other people have on their desks this week!
Oh my goodness - you amaze me each week but this is totally wonderful. So frosty and gorgeous. I love pussy willow - such a sign of Spring on the way. NB - I am an early bird checking desks this week - no Tilly today! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, what a fantastic job you've done with the Pussy Willows! They look amazing. You definitely achieved the frosty look you were aiming for. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #1 X
ReplyDeleteWow, that is gorgeous! You've really nailed the pussy willows, what is it you've used? It looks like a resin or something? Love the little touches of sparkle too, just beautiful!

I fell in love with this page as soon as I saw it but I was totally wrong in my thoughts about it. I took it you had stencilled pussy willow as your background and then wondered how you had managed to affix those real ones to the page and how the book was going to close. Reading on I found that you had created ALL the pussy willow. It is fabulous and so realistic looking. And I must comment on the pebbles at the base - they are beautiful, I love the little designs on them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab page!

You certainly captured the frosty feel Diana, beautiful page. A sprinkling of glitter into that glossy accents also does the job well and it's a good way of getting rid of the stuff that we have in our craft stash that's harmful to the environment.
ReplyDeleteCan I just sit and look at this a little longer... *Sigh* Stunning!!
Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey #10 xx

ReplyDeleteSensational! The frosted pussy willow looks incredible... textural, tactile, dimensional and so beautiful. I love the shadowy depths of the background too, with the subtle lauers of stamping. This is a completely magical page. Deep sigh of delight!

Yikes, I can’t think of a superlative that hasn’t been used. Love the beaded pussy willow, what a fab idea. I also love the blue and white base...is it cut out pieces that you’ve doodled on? love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julia - the base was texture paste pushed through a stencil and then when dry I rubber stamped on to it x
DeleteDiana, when I opened your blog I let out a loud "Oooohhhhh!" at your fabulous, absolutely fabulous page!!!!! I wish I could find some extra fantabulous adjectives... I adore pussy willows and this is just right up my country lane!! The background is just stunning too... I am in absolute raptures over this and think it's one of the best pieces you've done - but then I often think that! I always love your winter garden theme.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and your good wishes and kind words! I'm up and down and we had a pretty good day out today - I slept in the car there and back - quite a long journey from the south to the north of the 2nd largest county in England! We met up with old friends who are down on holiday from Norfolk and we don't see them that often. So glad you like my colourings this week. I am so enjoying my new pens. I am going to do a better sampler of the colours soon. Last night I painted a whole lot of sheets with white and grey gesso in preparation for some more experiments - they have been under a heavy pile of books since then to flatten them out. I love the idea of your guinea pigs having favourites between you! Lily has always been my hubby's and Ruby is mine! I fell in love with Ruby's little nose when I found the 2 of them on the Internet and after looking at literally hundreds of kittens, I just knew these 2 were for us and they've been a huge success. They are also very photogenic!
Hope you are having a good week too. Happy belated WOYWW,

Sooo stunningly beautiful, Diana, oh the pussy willows looking so frosted, and gorgeous with the use of pearls, and love the reminder in the background, that it is still dark sky and wintery feeling . You created the most beautiful story, and feeling into this magic creation. Hugs, Dorthe
