I've finally been doing a little bit of arty stuff after quite a long break from it. The mojo went, life got in the way and some good and not so good things needed most of my attention!
However, at last I've picked up a paint brush and been creative - I've painted a few lace bobbins and here they are sitting on my desk in an old teacup while waiting for the varnish to dry on their little heads.
For anyone interested I posted about bobbin painting a few weeks ago here.
I'm linking up with WOYWW this week.
Oh my, they are gorgeous and look as if they've been made of porcelain. So beautiful, hope you do some more and show us. Hope you're ok lovely gal, I've missed you and your wonderful art on the desks....

I agree with Jan above, they do look like porcelain. What beautiful painting. They are so pretty and now I need to backtrack and see what you did before on your blog.

These must be tiny if sitting in a teacup! Such delicate patterns and lines! You must have some fine tipped instruments to paint these. I've never even heard of lace bobbins - something for me to research - love how I always learn something from visiting desks! Have a happy and creative week, Diana! xx zsuzsa #21
ReplyDeleteWow - they are stunning - must have taken forever! Have a lovely week. Soojay #22
ReplyDeleteJust sooooo pretty!! Hope you get everything sorted to your satisfaction - life eh? gets in the way of our creativity! Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #2
ReplyDeleteDarling Diana, I've missed you so much and these are gorgeous but a few weeks ago! it was June Diana! that's months ago but it's so good to see you back. The bobbins look amazing. I love that gorgeous blue and have quite a few of the Chinese blue and white rice bowls. I love, love, love your Art work. Have a fabulous week and a lovely creative woyww, Angela x14x
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jan, they could be porcelain! thanks for the visit and enjoy Kew when you get there! I do love a raindrop! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteThose are so lovely. Good you are back and I hope things are better. Anne x @16
ReplyDeleteI've really missed you lately, Diana, and it's so nice to see you back again. I hope all the things that have robbed you of your mojo are now well under control and that your creativity can flow again and bless us all! Those Honiton bobbins are just exquisite... I love the Chinese influence. The cherry blossom is so pretty. Dad turned some gorgeous hardwood bobbins for me when I was doing Honiton lace (goodness, over 30 years ago now!!) and I kept those, but I gave away my lace pillow and other stuff because I knew I wouldn't continue with it. It was fun to experience for a while but I found I didn't really have the patience for it! There is something very restful and addictive about the click-click-click of the bobbins, though, and having done a bit, I do appreciate just how much work and skill goes into this ancient craft.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you back!
Happy WOYWW,

ReplyDeleteHello Diana
ReplyDeleteI’m not playing woyww this week but wanted to say how beautiful your bobbins are. Quite exquisite. I’m glad you’ve got your mojo back and I hope you’re ok.

Sorry to hear you've had so much to deal with - hope things are settling down now, and I'm very happy to see that you've found some creative time and inspiration. These bobbins are entirely charming. Lovely designs - the dark blue one reminds me of my favourite Burleigh Blue Calico china.

Oh Diana these are so precious. I did go back to your post and what little treasures that post has. I love seeing people's collections, especially odd old things. Thank you for your kind words, life has been a bit crazy but tears sometimes bring us back to calm and having faith. I'm thankful my DH supports me and I am thankful I can keep myself occupied with good weather here, walking enjoying nature. I truly miss not having my grandkids close by, so much I would love to share with them. They are all so special in their ideas and learning ! Stay Safe.
ReplyDeleteOh Diana, These are so gorgeous! Sorry I am late commenting. Happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. with love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#9)
ReplyDeleteYour wonderful bobbin painting will have done you good Diana. Sometimes we just need to take time to boost our batteries and immersing yourself in that stunning artwork must not only be satisfying but good for the soul too. xxx Jo
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful ~ I went back to your previous post too. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteBefore I even click on your name on the WOYWW list I know I’m going to have, at the least, an intake of breath. The bobbins did not fail me! They are quite, quite lovely. Considering the work they do, they look very delicate. Glad to see you’ve found your way back to your desk...I think its true to say that however good or bad the real life stuff is, eventually, sometimes very eventually, we make it back to our desks and we’re better for it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI remember a previous post about your bobbins...
Sorry I am so late posting - have a good week!
