Card Making and WOYWW

I've been missing in action for a couple of weeks - nothing interesting going on, just couldn't get myself together enough to craft and post!
However, I have made some cards recently and I also have some leftover backgrounds on my desk waiting to be used up.

I added some foil to a couple of the backgrounds here but it's difficult to see.
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  9. Love the colour combo with the rusty orange and the greyish blue! The finished pieces look fantastic and all those backgrounds hold a lot of potential! Judging from the scale of the die-cuts and the postage stamp, they're about ATC sized? Have a lovely week, Diana! xx zsuzsa #20

  17. Thank you for your return visit, Diana, and yes, it's been an extremely busy time lately! The creative juices are really flowing and I could do with 100% more time and energy really. I laughed at your idea of doing mosaics teabag-size! Imagine cutting all those bits of broken china that small! I suppose you could do it with tiny gems or coloured glue dots or something... I hereby set you the challenge haha!!

It's funny about the Gyrocut - this was my exact experience too. Having seen the videos the other day I decided to give it another go and I was certainly more successful this time around. I'm going to make a sticky mat and do the job properly, and with more practice, I think this is going to be a useful tool. I love the easy way of creating a deckle edge, though - no practice required for that!

I'm glad you liked the card I made at the workshop, too. That was an interesting challenge. Sometimes I think we are spoilt with all the materials and equipment that we accumulate over the years and it's a good discipline to scale things down a bit sometimes. I saw a video the other day where the person put a random selection of materials in a big box, and did a "lucky dip" taking out five things, which she forced herself to use to make a card. No second chances allowed! What she came up with was very interesting, and she said herself that in the normal course of things, she would never have put those particular things together. Makes you think outside the box - literally!

Glad you enjoyed the picture of Ruby with my hubby. I slipped that one in at the last minute after I'd already published the post, and I'm glad I did, because you weren't the only one who loved it.

  18. Love your post. Colors are fantastic. I too have had trouble posting, creating and feeling up and at 'em. Just blah. Have had 6 friends who have lost their husbands in 4 months time. It's just zapped me. Maybe your colors will inspire me to proceed with FALL my favorite season. Thanks Enjoy a great weekend.
