A bit of a messy desk this week - I haven't managed to finish anything and horror of horrors I actually have pushback! The shells at the back have been pushed out of the way while they wait for me to varnish them, and some gentle collage making has been going on. I say gentle because the tennis elbow in my right arm has now be joined by a frozen shoulder - they certainly make crafting challenging!
And on that note, can anyone please recommend an accurate guillotine - I always use a steel rule and a Stanley knife but that is just out of the question at the moment and it seems 90% of my crafting requires cutting straight lines!
Hellooo Diana 🤗 I'm so sorry to read you're still having problems that have now turned into a frozen shoulder, sending get well ⭐️ wishes your way as I type. Adore the look of your collage fodder, such beauty in the making already 😍 enjoyed the wee peek at your shells too 💕 Sorry I can't be of help about the guillotine. You take care, go canny. Love and hugs Tracy #5 xxx
ReplyDeleteOh bad luck with the frozen shoulder, do you have some gentle exercises to do? I have no idea about a guillotine sorry, the best one I’ve ever used was a Victorian one in the school where I worked - absolutely lethal and you had to count your fingers afterwards but it was brilliant!

Oh Diana, a frozen shoulder as well as that tennis elbow can't be fun at all. I suffer with my thumb and know how debilitating it makes me when crafting so you must be so uncomfortable with that pain.
ReplyDeleteYour shells are beautiful and a real work of art, sorry they are suffering and the paper workings too. Cannot recommend a guillotine as I use a trimmer, the Cutterpillar, which I like, good but expensive to buy. Mine was a gift, the large one. I did like my small Tonic though and I think the large Tonic has a good reputation but don't buy on my say so.
Hope you get the shoulder/elbow sorted and someone recommends a good guillotine.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx
Oooh! not a good time for you . . . maybe a good time to catch up on reading!!! lol
ReplyDeleteI think maybe a visit to the Range would get you a guillotine . . .

Hi Diana, that all sounds rather painful. I use Guillotines and have both the large and small Tim Holtz Tonics and have found them very reliable even though I know sometimes I've forced it to cut stuff which I really shouldn't have. I know there are some which are far more expensive and used some when I was teaching but I can't say they were a lot better other than they would be much happier with me cutting the thicker stuff. The thick stuff is like heavy brown packaging card like the ones that have the corrugation in between........I know I'm naughty! Most other cards seem fine apart from that really stiff Greyboard. Hope that helps. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x9x
ReplyDeleteI have had a couple of different makes of guillotines. Currently using a Crafter’s Companion one and a X-cut. If it’s a known make it is usually okay. Hope your arm/shoulder improve soon x Happy WOYWW. Angela #11
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are experiencing pain like that, yes it makes crafting hard that's for sure, I have the Tim Holtz guillotine cutter and feel it works great, I hope you can get some relief soon!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a full on day of sewing plus we have the twins before and after school every Wednesday so I've had tea to cook for us all after my day's work....I'd rather feed them for a week than a fortnight [you forget just how much growing kids eat]. It's my time now so I'm visiting all my favourite blogs.
ReplyDeleteYou have my full sympathy with your shoulder/arm...the covid booster certainly caused me some problems too but thankfully fairly short term for me. I hope yours improves very soon.
Hugs,

we are likeminded with our colours this week! I've just had my letter inviting me to book my covid booster. hope your shoulder improves soon. If you find a good guillotine, do share! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteOh I just went thru that shoulder episode, heat/ice and slow stretches. Don't lift anything. Love that burnt orange color on your desk. No ideas for straight lines, I have an older paper cutter PEMBROOK 12x12 that is great google it and I have a really old school (had auction) and I got heavy duty one for cardboard/heavy papers. Good luck and best wishes on that shoulder. I also use 1 advil/1tylenol 2 tabs at once for pain MY dentist recommended that.
ReplyDeleteSO sorry that you now have a frozen shoulder too Diana. I use a Carl rotary cutter as I don't have a guillotine. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteOh my, tennis elbow AND Frozen shoulder, I've had both, had an op for the latter 2 years ago after 18 months of osteopath/physio and not getting any better. Only used a support for the former and that seems to have passed now but I still wear the support whilst playing badminton just in case. I use a Fiskars Paper Trimmer, saw Dawn Bibby use one back in the day and have used one ever since. Not as heavy duty as a guillotine though. Hope you manage to find some relief to your issues, Gentle Hugs BJ#6
ReplyDeleteI hope your elbow and shoulder ease off soon. These things do tend to disappear eventually. I love the Autumn orange in your craft work - it's a lovely time of year. xx Jo
