The Garden in Winter

I'm still in a wintery frame of mind, helped along by the freezing conditions we are expecting later today!  I'm holding back on this sketchbook page for a while as I'm liking the simplicity of it at the moment - I'm good at over-egging the cake so I'm trying to stop myself flinging everything at it!

I made a birthday card for my brother-in-law recently - he loves working with wood and is very creative so I tried doing a wood inlay card using some wood effect papers that I've had in my stash for years, and a medallion die.  I was hoping for a Morroccan look to it, but he referred to it as lace so not quite the response I was hoping for.  Still, I had fun making it!!

I'm linking up with Julia this week over at WOYWW.

  2. Of course it’s a Moroccan tile, not lace at all!! Lovely work, the intricate patterns are fabulous. Cold and bit of snow here today but I think we’ve got off lightly!

  5. Couple of inches here and snowing again. Ugh. Makes your page more beautiful though, timely for sure, and it won’t get wet slushy and brown any minute! I wonder what else you might have had in mind to erm ‘throw at it’….?! I love the wood filled mandala, has the Maroc look to me! My god you exercised some patience with that, what a triumph…can’t see glue anywhere!!

  6. Definitely a Moroccan tile. Obviously your brother in law does not wear lace garments.
Oh the page - I think it is lovely. It is so indicative of what you are trying to represent, I don't think it needs anything more adding to it. The colour is just perfect, all on the cold spectrum and beautifully composed.
Yes, it was a fun day at Lavinia I hope you saw the tour of the shop on the Internet, it is just beautiful and she has worked so hard to make it the wonderland that it is.
Hope you have a lovely weekend planned

  7. Ahhh Diana, it's a pleasure to see your artwork ... loving your page along with the words ... magical ⭐️ it is. I hope the weather is being kind for you! It's a gorgeous blue sky here today with puffy plump clouds floating past ... magic in even one ⭐️ though it's verrrry cold.
That card for your brother in law is stunning 😍 such patience you have in the detail, love it!! Thank you for stopping by earlier and leaving such lovely words ... hello to your little blossom 🐾 I miss my dad with all my heart ... losing myself in the moments when I create brings Dad so close ... if only we could see them, hold them ... what a blessing that would be.

  10. We're just getting a light shower of snow at the moment and it's very cold which I might have guessed it would happen now as I've booked the dogs in for a hair cut. I will have to get them some warm jackets at the ready. You new journal page is just pervfect, love it. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x10x
