Collage - Layered Tissue

This week I have had to clear my desk from the ghastly mess of rubber stamp sorting that I was doing last week in order to concentrate on ATCs.  Once they were finished I made a quick collage using the next prompt in The Collage Workbook by Randel Plowman.  This one is using layers of tissue paper.

I used some very old Gestetner paper I had in my stash - anyone else remember using the old Gestetner machines before photocopiers came along?  I think I'm showing my age!   I also added a strip of acetate across some of the collage - that's the reflection showing in the photo below.

I'm off to mess up my nice clear desk and do some more stamp sorting, but before that I'm joining in with Julia over at WOYWW.

  1. I don't like to admit to this but yes I remember the Gestetner that we had at school before they brought the photocopiers in. We were not allowed to use it only the office so anything that you needed copying for your lessons needed to go to the office several days before you needed them and if the head decided he wanted something copying everyone else had to wait and rearange their lessons. This looks like a better way to use up the paper. Look forward to seeing your messy desk again and wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x10x

  2. I'm playing catch up with my favourite blogs now Louie has gone home. It's been a full on morning and I still have 2 customers to come yet [and their sewing to do of course].
A messy desk is a sign of a creative person :-)

  3. Once again I’m in love with your work - I do so love collages when ther people do them but lack the talent to do one myself! I’d never heard of that machine so I must be way younger than you (yeah right…!!!). The combo of patterns and text are really satisfying.

  6. I remember Gestetner machines but can't think what the paper was like. You are certainly making good use of your saved stash. It's so good to use and recycle rather than dump it. Your collages are lovely. Like Jan, I wouldn't know where to start! x x Jo

  7. Had to google Gestetner paper but I'm pretty sure it was a machine we used in teacher training back in 1988, oh my! Loving your tissue collages. Hugs BJ#13

  9. Oh Diana, of course i remember the old Gestetner. I used to love doing those wax stencil cuts on my typewriter and producing the Minutes or whatever reports. That was all before I went into teaching. Memories awakened.
I am always in awe of your collages, you do it so well. I think one needs to understand the concept to do it so good and I obviously don't.

  10. Good grief, I’d forgotten all about them, I used to hand crank out 100s of copies of Garrison Orders and all sorts of standard forms on a Gestetner! I always felt sorry for the typist having to be careful with the ‘skin’, and all that purple blue! Funny now! I’m delighted that you had to stop sorting to make some ATCs, much better for you! But, I have to admire your discipline on two counts…one for clearing up after you’d finished this beautiful collage, and two..going back to the sorting!
