I've just finished off two collages that have been hanging around half finished since October. The prompts I've been following are from The Collage Workbook by Randal Plowman. This prompt was all about adding finger painting to a collage.
And now on to the absolute disaster that is my desk this morning - it's very unusal for me to have anything on my desk as I always clear away as I make - but yesterday I decided to use a stamp for an idea I had. Despite the fact my stamps are all catalogued and can be found by drawer number and then inside the drawer by a specific box number, the stamp I wanted was missing. I couldn't find it anywhere so decided to have a combined search and sort out of all my stamps. This is drawer 1 and I have a small pile of stamps 'to go' by my radio and an overflowing box of stamps that I don't know if I want to keep or not but will probably let go. I can forsee regret in the future!
The catalogue pages are bottom right and new pages are being made with tiny stamps that I never bothered cataloguing in the past - after all if I'm doing this ghastly job I might as well do it properly!
I'm joining in with Julia over at WOYWW this week.
I’m always happy to see your name on the WOYWW list and this morning was no exception! Interesting to see your collages, I do really love how people create these but have no talent for it myself. I do love a good sort out and yours looks as if it’ll be a very useful exercise. Let me know if you are getting rid of any stamps, I’d like a look!

Entering the danger zones of trying to order your stamps!! Well done is all I can say.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of adding finger painting to the collage, may have to try it . . . i could get DX to help me on Saturday . . . he's not allowed in my studio but maybe this once!!
Thanks for the idea

Oh yes please we would love to swap with you. Your latest collages are stunning and it's hard to imagine that finger printing is involved. ( Ex infants teacher remembering the fun here) I too have been having a little sort out. It's ok folks donating lovely stash but I need to make room for it now. x x Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I know you like to be tidy so this desk made me smile. Although my desk is very rarely tidy I do like to try and organise the things I use as it drives me mad when I can't find something I need and I know I must get rid of some older stamps that I don't use but it's hard. I would love to swap with you and I've put you on my list right now. Loving the collages too, well done in getting them finished. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x8x
ReplyDeleteLove that top collage, I do love orangey colours. Did I ask if you would like to swap with me? I am just checking my address list and I have yours x. Happy WOYWW. Angela #16

ALways love seeing what you have on the go and finished pieces Diane. Good luck with the stamp sorting (and finding). Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteoh wow, you are organised with your catalogue (I have a list version but no images) and where they are - I have to rely on memory.... Great project this week, although I'm not a big fan of finger painting; I must have been damaged as a child lol! Have a good week and thanks for visiting already Helen #2
ReplyDeleteI love the collage! It works on all fronts for me - the colours are autumnal (favourite season because of the colours), and it is Asian (I love all things Chinese and Japanese sneaks in there with it for me (sometimes I get muddled which is which)
ReplyDeleteWith the second one I love the white background and am pleased it is not over crowded with colour. It's simplicity works so well.
On both pieces the finger painting works and enhances the total design of the pages. I always envy those who can collage well, something i struggle with. You definitely have the eye for it.
To my shading, it is the shading around the edges, the purple for example - it really is patchy and not a smooth blend. I am fairly new to this kind of working so have not got the hang of it yet. I will persevere though.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
ps are you swapping ATC's? I would love to exchange but so far have not asked anyone - must do so now.
Oh my, my email comment notifications didn't work at all on Wednesday so I thought I had no comments, came to have a look today and have loads!
ReplyDeleteSpent most of Wednesday trying to sort my glasses out. Had to go back to Boots as my prescription was wrong, the optometrist sorted it out and apologised however the staff on the desk were horrid so I've emailed customer support, glad I took my husband with me this time to see what they were like.
Super collages, love the finger prints/painting what a great idea and super effect. Hope the sorting goes to plan and you find the stamp you were looking for.
