AUTUMN BULBS AND TAG TUESDAY CATCH UP

There is a wonderful Autumn feel in the air lately and while mooching round my local garden centre last week I noticed these colourful bulbs all ready for planting - I rather like the textures and colours of the different varieties.  I'm afraid the photos aren't brilliant as I was taking them in rather a hurry and had an armful of shopping!

I am linking these to Colour Me Weekly and Mosaic Monday.

I also thought I'd post two tags that I have made over the last couple of weeks for Tag Tuesday.  The theme for the first one is 'Autumn Fruit and Berries' and the second one is 'Owls'.

On both tags I added a top tag of printed acetate - old text on top of the Rose hip image and a tree silhouette on top of the owl and printed silk panel.

If you want to see some fantastic tags why not pop over to Tag Tuesday and have a nosey!

SLIDE MAILER ART - BLUE AND ORANGE

While having a sort out in my studio recently, I came across some old slide mailers - I nearly threw them out as they haven't been used for years.  Then I thought why not have a go - so here is my first 'play'.  In case anyone is wondering, slide mailers are small folded cards with glass slides for mailing samples off to laboratories.

The front - I used torn paper, rubber stamps and copper embossing powder.

The inside - you can see it opens as a book and the two glass panels were glued in using a very thin line of glue right on the edge of each panel, so it wouldn't show through from the front.

The back.

Still in a blue and orange mood I made this photo mosaic using photos from Charles Dickens birth place that I visited back in April.

Some of my great-grandmothers china.

USA HOLIDAY SNAPS!

This week I've put together a collection of photographs from our trip to Pennsylvania, and I'm linking up with Mosaic Monday and Color Me Weekly.

One of the highlights for me was a day at the Guggenheim art museum in New York - the most fabulous building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and the most amazing collection of modern art.

We also drove to Washington DC for a few days and did a lot of great touristy stuff!

And finally, some of our travels around the local countryside.

COLLAGE OBSESSION - A GREY THEME

This week Collage Obsession tempted me with the theme of 'grey'.  It's a colour I love but don't work with that often.
I decided to put together two grey photo collages, using photos from my archives - one based on sewing and the other based on the beach.

Why not nip over and visit other grey-themed work at Collage Obsession.

POST HOLIDAY BLUES AND ALLIUMS

We arrived back home on Friday after a wonderful 3 weeks in Pennsylvania, USA visiting my step grand-children and family.  With two young children to enjoy, aged 2 years and 6 years old there wasn't much time for blogging, so apologies for not replying and commenting for so long!
I am suffering post-holiday blues and ploughing through washing and unpacking, so I've delved into my archives to come up with something to post for this week's Color Me Weekly and Mosaic Monday.  These Alliums were photographed in the restaurant at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, earlier this summer - I just love these wonderful spiky flowers!

I am also linking this to Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday - I used her texture 'Let Go' on all the above images.

BRIGHT BLUE AND ORANGE

I picked up this little blue glass vase for a snip - it was a pure impulse buy as I was completely lured by the colour!
In the garden this week these bright orange Mombretia were just about coming to an end but I managed to salvage a few for the vase.   Being complimentary colours blue and orange just work so well together and I love this colour combo, although I find a little goes a long way.

LAZY SUMMER DAYS

On one of the few sunny, summery days we've had lately, and let's face it there haven't been that many, I decided to flake out on the lawn with a good book, a jug of lemonade and an ice cream!  As I gathered together all I would need for the arduous task of relaxing, it all started to look rather appealing - so out came the camera!  I put to good use the daisies that hadn't been mown for weeks and made a daisy chain, although unlike my childhood days I needed a pin and pair of reading specs!

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

PEACOCK COLOURS

Last weekend we took my eldest step-son, who has autism, to Staunton Country Park (near Havant).  He happily fed the animals and I happily photographed this handsome fellow - well he's handsome from the front but his tail was a disaster!   He seemed so used to people that I'm sure he was posing for me!

One of my favourite colour combinations - blue and green - and no, they aren't false nails, they are beetle wing cases!

Since trying to send specific information to a blog friend a few weeks ago, and it kept failing, I have discovered another three people who aren't receiving emails if I send them by clicking the reply button in my mail box.

I don't reply to every comment by email as I would have no time left for blogging! But I can only apologise if you haven't been receiving the odd little email from me, commenting back on something you said or thanking you for dropping by.

So here's another big thank you to everyone who visits and takes the time to leave kind and supportive comments - each and every one is truly appreciated.
