On my desk this week are two little embroideries I've been doing - and they are continuing my theme on the winter garden. I used hand made paper as the base and added sari silks, glass beads, freshwater pearls, metallic threads and printing. I wanted to give the idea of awakening - new life pushing up through the dormant layers and the hard, spiky frost.
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW - why not pop over and see what other people have on their desk this week.
Well, I think your idea worked! Beautiful, so glad you posted pics of the detail too..I could browse all day!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Diana - well done.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Love the 'detail' shots, it's so lovely to pick out the bugle beads, pearls and other touches. I love the almost monochrome piece best, it's just the colours of today!! I really adore your work because it's something I know I could never do, so admire the patience of others :-)

Wow. Sari silks, beads, pearls, printing--that adds up to some amazing embroidery. So beautiful and inspiring to me. It really does represent pushing up through the frost and feeling new again. Love, love, love. Thank you so much for sharing that! Just seeing that gorgeous work made my day. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #48
ReplyDeleteThis is taking embroidery to a whole new level! Wow! Beautiful! Wish I could do that. I'm joining a small embroidery group here in the village and I'm going to learn traditional embroidery. (Never done anything more than cross stitch).
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is a work of art!
Thank you for visiting earlier,

Gorgeous Diana, I hardly like to ask if you have any other plans for these because I don't always when I make pieces like this. I just love the experience of working with the materials and don't always know what I will use the finished piece for. However, if you do have plans, please let us see it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy crafting, Angela x 37

Such exquisite work, really would like to play with something similar just need to work out how to start. Recently got some Sari Silk, have the handmade paper and I have a huge amount of beads so what's stopping me, lack of confidence but one day I WILL make something. Amazing inspiration, thank you :-) xxx

ReplyDeleteThese work beautifully Diana. Love the combinations and the printing fits in so well. I also did my third winter garden piece on handmade paper and used my felting machine to embed my fibres! Sari silks are a great idea! Must try that! Thanks again for inspiring me! X
