I have just finished another piece of work in my sketchbook this week, based on the winter garden theme. The whole page is very sparkly and glittery but unfortunately the camera just didn't pick up any of the sparkle.
In detail the shiny stuff includes glitter on texture paste, tiny diamonds, iridescent thread and little dots of Perfect Pearls. Non-shiny stuff includes twigs, white feathers and tiny scraps of rubber stamped Tyvek - there's a little bit more info on this technique here.
I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW, and also with Paper Artsy for their current challenge 'shiny stuff'.
It has a beautiful ethereal feel to it Diana

ReplyDeleteStunning pages and it all comes together beautifully.

Gloriously monochrome (is that an oxymoron??) it reflects perfectly what the outside world looked like yesterday! And you could see the sparkle in a couple of pics, it's so hard to capture on camera...that's why you can never photograph fairies obviously....;-)

I love this work and have noticed that people are now 'marketing' texture gel with glitter as 'snow paste' to the uninitiated!!
ReplyDeleteOh my!! So glittery and sparkly!!! Love the white on white winter look! Have a great week & God bless!

Oh, goodness, another gorgeous winter garden piece!! They just keep getting better every week! I love them!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love it! Well done. I thought that Tyvek technique looked really interesting and the result is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing here today. Yes, it does snow in Spain. We live inland and depending on altitude we get snow regularly.
Have a good week, hope the weather isn't too bad,

This is a breathtakingly beautiful piece. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful Diana. I love the white and the texture. It's such a shame that the sparkle doesn't show up. We will just have to imagine it.............. I'm glad you like my blog header.
ReplyDeleteOh my that is beautiful. Anne x #40
ReplyDeleteOh Diana
ReplyDeletethat is gorgeous I don't know why but it reminds me of Miss Haversham from Great Expectations..... Mixed media at its best. Thanks for your comments ..... The fairy lights are sewn from felt and sparkly sequins, that's why they are cheap on electricity

Totally amazing! Love, love love this. Have been extolling your virtues and talents on my latest blog! Had a go at winter garden myself but over egged it a bit. Struggle with abstract versus reality! Enjoyed playing with Tyvek! Said that I had never heard of it but found some in my stash! Love the sensitivity of your work and totally inspired by you! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ! you have captured a wintery garden perfectly. I could see some of the sparkle when I expanded the photo. Followed your link to the rubber stamped Tyvek and it looked amazing, just like lace. Will have to try that technique myself sometime. Hugs Lottie #78
ReplyDeleteIt's just beautiful, so delicate. Love it.

Another simply gorgeous creation, Diana. I love your winter garden pieces! Thank you for your comment - yes, the waiting is the hardest part. I did manage to do some embroidery this p.m. though, and sometime I've got to apply myself and make my hubby a Valentine card - he deserves a special one this time. Just can't get motivated though! I am glad that the crisis with Mum is over, now, with the carers coming in, and us getting some outside moral support on that front too. Makes the current crisis easier to face!!

Oh, wow! Again, beautiful balance of the classical image with the natural snowy-ness. You're really harnessing the beauty of Winter in these pages.
