Time to leave my summer/night garden behind.
I''m being overwhelmed by spectacular autumn colours - so I decided to celebrate the season with vintage postcards, thermofax screens and embroidery threads!
This has to be my very favourite time of the year!
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW for another week of sharing what's on our desks!
It's my favourite season too. Your postcard art is just beautiful. Wonderful colours and textures.

What a lot of fun you have had with those postcards. Autumn is such a beautiful time of year - and this year the colours there in nature for our inspiration have been exceptional.

ReplyDeleteI love your postcards, Diana! I love Fall and so I love how you've captured the feel of the season! The embroidery and the dimension is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, these are gorgeous! What a great idea to recycle some old postcards. Just love your art work, you make everything your own . Have a great week and happy woyww, Angela x 14
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous stuff. I was thinking of you the other day because I've been doing something unique and creative--I'm saving oatmeal packets, after I eat the oatmeal of course, and I plan to stamp and embroider on them! Is that crazy? I just love the feel of that oatmeal paper. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #39
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful postcards Diane! I love the burnt orange colour! And the embroidered detail. The recipients are going to be so happy getting one of those cards!

This is my favourite time of year too and you have captured it so beautifully with these pieces, stunning!

My favourite time as well, especially looking out of the windows over Healey Dell Nature Reserve where all the trees are in their full glory.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful new project Diana. How will you display the postcards or will you just leave them free to pick up and put down randomly. I do that it's such a pleasing thing to do

I'm another one who loves autumn, Diana. I love what you have done with the vintage postcards and the splash of autumn colour. I read a gorgeous quote on someone's blog the other day about autumn, from Albert Camus: "Autumn is the second spring, when every leaf is a flower." Isn't that lovely? When we were out today I scooped up a lot of damp autumn leaves off the pavement - so many shapes and colours! I musst see what I can do with them.

Thanks for your visit, Diana - I had never heard of a microwave flower press so did a quick search, and found Lindsay the Frugal Crafter doing it with kitchen paper, scrap computer paper and a ceramic tile! I might just give that a try. Not sure what to do with my leaves yet. They are drying on my work surface at the moment.I love ginko leaves too but don't know where I'd ever get any! I am so glad you like my Florabunda letters. Haven't done any for a day or two. I'm definitely feeling better but have had 2 busy mornings and ended up asleep in the afternoons!! I should be feeling better again tomorrow. Into week 3 now after my foinal chemo! I really hope the cancer drop in centre allow me to teach a Zentangle class...

Lovely little collection, Diana.... love all your layering and different techniques! I always get such wonderful inspiration from you! xxx Lynn
ReplyDeleteWow I love these! Especially since this is my favorite time of year too and these reflect that feeling so well. I love how you embroidered right onto the postcards, I don't know why I never think of doing that directly onto a thick paper like that. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow and wow, I really don't know what else to say.........your work is so wonderful and yet I can still visit and be blown away..these are perfect, I just adore them. The colours, stitching, use of text, beads...fabulous. Ruth xx
