After a horrible couple of weeks that has had bad news coming in from all directions, I finally felt able to settle down in the studio to catch my breath and 'escape'. We have a lot of birthdays in October so I got on with making gift tags and birthday cards - it was very relaxing and I enjoyed 'playing' with dies, stamps and glazes that I hadn't used for a long time - it almost felt like having new stash!
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW and then I'm off to print some co-ordinating wrapping paper and gift bags - a perfect activity for a rainy day!
Sorry to hear you have had a tough couple of weeks. I do hope things are settling down for you now. These tags and the card are gorgeous. Combining two of my favourite elements of script and leaves. Beautiful colours of autumn tints, I would love to see how the wrapping paper turns out. I am just planning on starting some home made Christmas wrapping paper as my cards are nearly finished. Elaine
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope that life has settled down a bit...doesn't it always go like that... 'Never rains but it pours' etc? Crafting helps, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think that, of all the deskers, yours is the work I aspire to. I just adore the combinations of colour, texture and little details like the twine and buttons that are just perfect. I see these things in my head but it doesn't transfer into reality, lol!!
The Jeep will be stuck in the garage until mid next week but thankfully won't be quite as ruinously expensive as we'd feared. Still a lot though..... ;-(
See you in November sometime!
Hugs, LLJ 14 xx
What lovely tags you have created! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had so much bad news coming your way. I hope things get better for you soon. Your tags are beautiful, I love how deceptively simple they are. Lots of detail and interest in the backgrounds and the individual leaves, but put together in such a way that the overall effect is harmonious instead of busy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you've had all kinds of bad news, Diana. But, I'm happy that you got to escape for a while. Your tags and cards are just gorgeous. Really sorry indeed to hear you've been going through the mill recently, Diana, and I do hope you are now sailing in calmer seas and can put it behind you. Your tags and card are just fabulous... What gorgeous autumn colours and lots of texture and dimension! So you have been joining me in Card Factory mode lol! Not done any today (not feeling well) but working on some grid templates on the computer, for printing out Zentangle drawings for my Card Factory.
ReplyDeleteI didn't join WOYWW this week because nothing on the desk, and feeling not so good after last Fri's treatment (final one yayy!) and we had to go out, too. Hopefully I'll be back next week.

Thank you for your two lovely comments, Diana, and for your sweet compliments! Give the tangling a go - just draw a "string" and fill the spaces with pattern! Easy peasy. Very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI want to make more bee cards - it's a favourite theme of mine. I now have 3 sizes of those bees. Today, not feeling so well, I designed a grid on the computer, for lining up the little bees in a repeating pattern, which should take a lot of work out of that sort of background in the future. I've done quite a few bee projects over the years and you might like this one, which is my favourite of all time I think - it's also on my blog but in several separate posts.

Those tags are lovely! I'm wondering what die that is, because I think I might "need" it :)
ReplyDeleteRosA # 36
Thanks RosA! The die is Tim Holtz Alterations 'Layered Leaf' #660039 and comes with a coordinating embossing folder. It's definitely one of my favourites!
DeleteThank you for your return visit, Diana. Today I am feeling really rough again but I know it will pass so I'm not worried - as usual I just have to go with the flow! So nice to know there are no more treatments and I can really concentrate on feeling better this time. I am so glad you enjoyed my beehive explosion box! I had such fun with it, choosing amusing ways to depict the different activities. My favourite is the Bee Movies lol!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
