I was delighted to be asked back to do another demo for Paper Artsy -
the theme being wearable art.
I just love the Tim Holtz Poinsettia die and I've been thinking for a while that it's much too nice to keep just for Christmas, so I decided to give it a Halloween twist and make a necklace and cuff.
I stamped the petals in gold using some Paper Artsy stamps, edged them with Glossy Accents and black glitter, and then assembled the flowers. I then used a hot glue gun and added leafy ribbon or beaded wires between the petal layers. Before fully cool, the hot glue allowed the petals and wires to be arranged at the right angle to give a good 3D effect.
If you would like to see more details about how they were made please pop over to the Paper Artsy blog here.
What a fantastic idea!!! I love what you did with the poinsettia die! It's a perfect Halloween flower!! Just beautifully spooky and I'm sure any fashionable witch would be thrilled to wear it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely superb! What a fabulous set to wear to a Halloween party. Wow. It would have never occurred to me to use the die for anything but Christmas stuff.
ReplyDeleteZowie!Just LOVE your take on this die! Yes..using that die for other projects apart from Christmas is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully inventive!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are fantastic! My future DiL would love them, as she's very Goth/steampunky!!

Whoa - SO cool! Wonderfully Halloween, which you know I love. Heading over to Paper Artsy now...
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is sooooo clever and the results look fantastic! Off for a closer look....
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! While I am totally not into Halloween, these are sufficiently non-Halloweeny to pass Shoshi's muster lol! A great use of what is normally considered a very limited seasonal flower. I love how you have arranged them, and the use of the leafy ribbon too. Wearable art is great, and I am sure you will get no end of positive comments when you wear these out and about! Very striking.

This is so beautiful and creative. I would love to see it in red for Christmas. Thanks for all your lovely comments over at my place.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous work Diana, so gorgeous in the black with that dash of glimmer. This is stunning and so nice to see such an original take on stamping and die cutting, great to break the mould in such a stylish way! That leaf ribbon looks perfect in the mix. That die is a cracker isn't it. Talking of which these would make amazing decorations for the Christmas table in suitable colours. Elaine x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I follow paperartsy so had seen them but just not realised it was you :)
