Trying To Get A Little Bit Festive

Just beginning to feel festive and having a bit of a play to see what I'll be doing for tags and cards this year.
I don't think it will be this!  Despite using Fired Brick Distress ink over the background and on the flower it has turned out pink!  Now I'm not a 'pink' person at all, least of all at Christmas, and even with snow and glitter it still doesn't look festive to me.  So I'm now having a re-think....!

And while I'm having a re-think I 'm joining Julia over at WOYWW this week!

  1. I never used to like pink when I was younger but now I find myself drawn to it quite a lot (and grey). That tag is gorgeous, I don't think it matters what colours you use, something can still be Christmassy :-)

  2. It's gorgeous! Pink, yes, and I think I'm with you over pink, but it is lovely, probably need a heavier touch with the ink...you know like my crack handed applications! A lovely idea for a winter greeting though...so some more won't you?

  3. OK, so it may not have been exactly what you were after, but to my eyes it still looks absolutely amazing!! Love the flower and those white over tones. Like you, I'm not at all a pink person, - how about a few spritzes of yellow/gold and it could be a stunning autumnal creation?.... Anyway, I think it's really beautiful whatever!

  4. This is lovely Diana. It's a shame tho that the red didn't turn out as you wanted it. I think it would look lovely in silver and grey or silver and icy blue.

  5. Hi Diana. A lovely tag. But I think I'm with you... beautiful, glorious colours... but winter, not Christmas. Give me red, green and gold any time.
I think I'm losing the plot... just typed this in, then think I must have forgotten to press publish, 'cos it simply disappeared. OOps...
    Take care. God bless.

  6. Hi Diana, I had to laugh, I too am not a 'pink' person! I must admit, I think only the DI Candied Apple or Festive Berries are 'proper' reds, all the others seem pink or orange toned to me. But I do love the tag, it may not be what you wanted, but it's still beautiful. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #4 xxx

  8. I love a bit of pink myself - I think this looks stunning! And pink goes so well with blues, greens and purples and even browns. I especially like vintage, dusty pink. I really think you should make friends with pink and embrace it, LOL. There she is crying her eyes out in the corner! Hope you have a good week! zsuzsa #22

  9. I'm not a pink person either but this is beautiful. Not Christmas-y but you have a good starting point in other seasonal colors! Have a good week!

  11. I'm not a pink person but that tag is gorgeous! With the white around reminds me of Poinsettias and snow!

  12. beautiful tag. I have had that problem with the distress colors and had to go back to using dye inks or acrylic inks to get the effect I want. I am not a pink person either but you know it is beautiful! Have a great week. Vickie #11

  16. I find that I always get pink when I use Distress inks for color unless I sponge directly onto the paper. This is a very pretty pink project, so elaborate! Hugs, Autumn

  17. I love the non-traditional Christmas colors, so I find that I adore this as a holiday tag. So detailed and textural! Have a great week! Heather (waywardgypsy) #50? #51?

  20. Well I am a pink person and I think that's stunning!! I always think anything to do with snow has to involve blue (and silver) but I would make an exception for this. Really, I think it's absolutely gorgeous!

  21. You told me last week the name of the die for the background branches on the tag on your previous post, now I'm wondering what the little flowers are :) ?

  23. Oh, it's definitely gorgeous, but I agree that it doesn't have a Christmas vibe. I do hope you get it figured out so it's what you want it to be. Best of luck!

  25. Wow this is gorgeous, Diana. I think it looks festive - you don't have to use traditional red and green to be festive! It's got a gorgeous frosty feel to it.

  27. Thank you for your return visit and such a nice comment, Diana. I saw the GP this p.m. and she said I'd definitely had some gastroenteritis but I am starting to feel better now, thank goodness. She also said I'd developed a hernia around my stoma which is a real bore because they are notoriously difficult to deal with... Fortunately it's not large and she said nothing needs doing for now. I've also got to go on anticoagulants for the clots in my lungs that showed up on the scan. Thank you for your enthusiasm over my digital work - it really is fun playing with that! The iPad Pro and Apple Pencil combo is so natural to use and you forget you are not working with paper - yesterday I even tried to avoid smudging my work, and found myself trying to flick away eraser dust lol!! Mum will be OK now she's on antibiotics. They look after her very well in her residential home, so we are not too worried.

  29. Hi Diana,
I was wondering about the little flowers on the bottom half of the blue tag, which you featured last week (12 Oct). I guess they are probably die cuts? They look so lovely and so realistic too! (Maybe they are a TH die?)

  33. Love the design, Diana, but know these are not your colors!! I look forward to seeing what you come up with, as I always love your gift tags! Great inspiration for when I can finally return to the craft table in a week or so....with any luck! xxx Lynn

  34. Greetings, fellow Hampshire-ite!

It's a very lovely tag but I can see what you mean about it not being Christmassy. Maybe it needs some silver or gold with it? And a bit of holly. Holly is very Christmassy, whatever colour you do it in.

Nearly the next WOYWW, so please excuse my late arrival this week!

  35. I think this is absolutely gorgeous, although you're right that it doesn't quite scream Christmas. But it looks so real I almost want to smell it. I rarely use pink myself, although I often really love it when I see others work using it, this being a perfect example- I just don't instinctively reach for it.

  36. Maybe not 'Christmas' but it is very beautiful...

Hope you have a lovely weekend
