Paper Hydrangeas and WOYWW

These little Hydrangeas are sitting on my desk at the moment - I've had this die for quite a long time and never got round to using it so I decided it was about time to use it or lose it!   I die cut all the petals out, found a polystyrene ball in the depths of my studio and had a go.
The first attempt is the blue one and I think I was a bit mean with the petals, so it's a little 'gappy'.  However, being a perfectionist I had to make another one that I was happier with - hence the pink one!
They were rather labour intensive but I enjoyed the experiencem although it may be a long while before I get the die out again!
I shall attach each one to a small circle of card and make them into gift tags.

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. Hi Diana, WOW! they are fab, I honestly thought they were real! Fantastic job with the shading and assembly. And I think the blue one looks just fine, they can be a little like that anyway- plus the blue ones are my favourite colour! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #8 X

  3. Oh my goodness... that must have been an aweful lot of work but these are gorgeous!!! The blue one is my fave because of the colour, but I can see why you won't do this again any time soon... the labour it took, wow! Have a great week, happy woyww and a big hug from Holland. Marit #18

  4. Blimey, I thought they were the real thing!! How beautiful are they and how much patience you mus have, lol! Way more than me. I've recently got s couple of hydrangeas for my garden, they're coming back into fashion but I've always had a soft spot for them. I hadn't realised you were an orang fan, they are one of my favourite animals.....

  7. Wow Diana, I had to do a double and triple take to make sure those Hydrangeas weren't real. The colours are amazing. Have a great week. Sarah #5

  12. Beautiful colouring on these. They are such misleading flowers seeming to be such a simple bright blue or pink but so varied when you look closely at them and changing throughout the season. Time consuming but well worth it for an occasional floral flourish. Thanks for your visit last week. x #27

  13. They really are gorgeous - the subtle colour shading from petal to petal makes all the difference in terms of how real they look - and they do! I can well imagine how labour intensive they are, but all your painstaking work has been absolutely worth it.

  16. Oh my goodness Diana, they look amazing, so real!! The subtle way in which you coloured them is stunning! I specially love the colour of the blue one, but yes I can see why you had to do the other one, and I bet it took ages, a real labour of love for sure!! I really look forward to seeing the tags you are going to use them for, I hope you will show those too!

  17. I can totally see the labour intensivenessnessness to them, and therefore why they may not be top of the list for being repeated, but my word, they are wonderful.

  18. Made with love indeed Diana, they are so beautiful. You have captured their vintage hues perfectly. They may have taken you a long time to create but they are so worth it, Thank you so much for sharing these stunning creations.

  19. I thought I was looking at real hydrangeas, Diana. You did a fabulous job, even on the first one. I suspect they were very labor intensive and may not have been a labor of love. These will go to some very, very appreciative recipients, I'm sure.

You asked what I would do with my rocking horse ribbon. I do seem to have a lot of it, so may use maybe a couple of inches. However, for the most part, it will stay as part of my rocking horse collection. Sorry I was late visiting, but so grateful you stopped by earlier. Happy WOYWW from #3.

  20. Hi Diana. I am REALLY late getting around this week - been so busy hosting Shaz in Oz - but she is now safely tucked up with a friend in America, so I can begin to think...
WOW! They are made of paper??? They are stunning!
    Take care. God bless.
