Resist Stenciling Cards

Despite being gardening crazy at the moment I managed to get some crafty time in and I turned a couple of backgrounds into birthday cards.  It was a continuation of my 'playing' with the Distress Micro Glaze resist technique. I can't seem to resist resist at the moment!
The top card has some gold embossing paste thinly stenciled on top of the resist stenciling so it's slightly translucent.  It's a little easier to see in the close up shot further down the post.

The one below used just two colours of spray, pink and a honey gold but when sprayed on top of each other they made a very pleasing deeper burgundy.

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. Both very striking cards and how interesting that you got that lovely shade with a mix of pink and honey gold. Did you colour the fabric flower yourself? It blends in so perfectly.
Am going to have to look up this technique you do with the Distress Micro Glaze. Am so out of touch at the moment but the results you get are beautiful. I love how the gold paste is translucent.
    Have a good week.

  5. Distress micro glaze technique. Good grief, when I started making cards there was embossing or colouring, the lexicon incr3ases. In your hands, any technique looks fab; the resist is a lovely thing, allows one to do so much after it!

  6. Now these are beautiful Diana, I know what you mean when you find your comfort zone when working with a medium but with resist there really is so many possibilities. You should start on your Christmas cards while you are on a roll :) Happy WoywW Tracey #5
P.S that little owl I use as my pin holder (OUCH) always need one close to hand to free up that glue nozzle.. I know poor Owl but he's very forgiving hee hee! x

  11. Gorgeous cards and so love the technique too. The Micro Glaze is a great product. Interestingly I used Vaseline Petroleum Jelly for this technique before micro glaze arrived which works in a similar way and actually looks similar in the jar. Might just have to go back to it and test them both out together. Have a lovely creative week and a happy woyww, Angela x15x

  14. I can rarely resist a resist either - these are beautiful examples of why... that wonderful glow, the soft edges and the layered depth it allows. Gorgeous work as always, Diana.

  16. Good morning, Diana. I'm really late getting 'round this week. I wish I could say mine was gardening but it's been so wet here. We have a couple of dry days before it starts again. ::: sigh ::: Lovely cards. Creative Blessings! Kelly #28
