Swatches Folder

Not much creativity has been going on since last week but I have been doing a little organizing and trying to stuff new stash into an already very overcrowded studio!  This also involves adding samples of my new purchases to my swatches folder, which is currently open on my desk right now as I was too lazy to put it away last night!
In the folder I have swatches of everything from
ink pads and glitter pastes.....

...to coloured card and washi tapes
This makes it so much easier to colour match and remind myself what stash I have (which probably means I have far too much if I need visual aids to remember it all).  I must give a shout out to Shaz (Silverwolf) who many moons ago pointed me in the direction of the pocket folders from Westgate-supplies - I use them for almost everything - they really are bloomin' marvellous!

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week so why not pop over and have a nose at what other people have on their desks.

  1. Ooh, look... how beautifully organised. My question is, having located the colour or tape you want to use in your lovely files, can you then lay hands on it in the stash? That would be my failing! And then knowing there was a colour I really wanted to use, I'd be unable to yield to another option when I couldn't find it!!

  2. I love how organised everything is and your dedication to a system that must have taken years to build up. It’s a piece of art and craft on its own. I remember being tremendously impressed with Redanne’s craft room on the occasions I visited her. It’s so beautifully laid out with everything to hand and organised

  3. Very inspirational, Diana! I purchased such pocket folders some years past, but have yet to do anything with them. It would be wonderful to have such a catalog of one's stash at hand. And to also link idea sketches, inspiration photos, tutorials, and such somehow. Ideas welcome! And thanks so much for your recent visits - it is lovely to hear from you!! xxx Lynn

  4. Hi Diana, I love these pockets too but use them to store left-over and spare bits of die-cuts. They have been a god send for me as I had them scattered around in envelopes and folders and couldn't find them so easily though I believe there are probably some still waiting to be filed somewhere! I am well impressed with how you have organised yours, it must have taken ages to begin with. Wishing you a lovely creative week and a happy woyww, Angela x13x

  5. That Shaz, she's the Supreme Enabler!! Those folders are brilliant and a work of art in their own right - a great way of keeping tabs on what you've got.

  7. Oooh Diana! These sample books are absolutely amazing! I love them! You are soooo organised... I wish you'd come and do a Mary Poppins on my studio as the place is a tip. The trouble is with books like that, I don't think I could be bothered to put the work in, but I can see how useful they must be. They are good enough to be put on display, they are so colourful and decorative! Shaz is amazing for her good ideas, isn't she!

Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my watercolour doodles. The kitties are a total hoot going in the bin - Ruby has adopted it as her new favourite place but Lily is now insisting on going in all the places she's not supposed to. She's going through a really naughty phase at the moment!

    Happy WOYWW,

  9. That is an impressively organised catalogue, Diana! I envy your washi tape collection! I'm also impressed that you typed little labels for each colour swatch! Once you get into it, I can see it can be quite an enjoyable project to complete, motivated by the end result - oohing and aahing over the colour swatches. I'm not great on organisation, but even I feel inspired. Happy Wednesday! zsuzsa #23

  14. Wow! How incredibly organized you are! I do love organizing my stuff too, but then I find I never use it, so I have stopped. Just my unmounted stamps are organized. They also used to be on the computer and cross referenced, but no more! Thanks for your earlier visit, have a great week! Lindart #31

  15. WoW! You are so organised. What a fabulous idea - not sure that I have the time or enough stuff to warrant doing it, mind you, but I admire anyone who is that organised. Have a great week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#14)

  17. Hi Diana, wow - I thought I was organised, but you beat me - washi tapes and glitter pastes! Your swatches look great - I'm indexing my stamps now I've created all the folders. My problem is memory - I know I have stuff, but don't know where I have put it. Thanks for stopping by earlier - I have no idea yet what I will do with the cork leaves, just touched that my daughter bought them for me. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #11

  19. Hi Diana, holy moly am I impressed you have paper and pearl sample sheets... ( I have an ink book anymore and that's it) tools are all in the computer and I use that for dies and stamps but, I wish I had thought to do it with papers a million years ago before I bought everything that caught my eye over the years. :)

  20. Oh Diana you are organised , what great idea,-
I`m not at all organised like that, and would not be able to find the special color I was looking for, even having them so beautifully lined up in a map. But it must be great and giving much more time creating, when things are on their places . I admire you !!!!
Also thankyou for your kindest comment to my blog, I would so miss visiting you, if suddenly you decided to stop blogging Diana , your blog is among my most favorite to enjoy ! xoxo

  21. It looks like a work of art itself all laid out and colour matched, I'd love to be more organised but I know that would never happen and I'm far too random. Fabulous goal achieved there Diana, I bet it's rewarding to flick through.
Thank you for visiting on Wednesday, i'm so late getting round everyone. Life just escalated this week so trying to do my duty now before another day gets eaten away.
Have a super weekend, take good care & Happy belated WoywW Tracey xx
