Old Postcards and Childhood Memories and WOYWW

I have been struggling to do much in the studio recently as the Carpel Tunnel problem in my left hand has become decidedly worse.  This has been going on for several years and after quite a long waiting list and some hospital cancellations I'm thankfully, or should I say hopefully having it done on Friday!

However, I have managed to make these little collages, doing little bits to them here and there over the last couple of weeks. I still need to do some more hand sewing but to be honest that's quite uncomfortable for me at the moment, so they will have to go into the 'work in progress' box for a while.

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW  to see what other people have on their desks this week.

  3. Morning Diana, I really hope all goes to plan on Friday and there will be some relief. I know carpel tunnel is not a good thing to suffer from especially when hands are so creative but just think of all the wonders to be finished in your WIP box waiting for your return. Little bits here and there are better than non.
Wishing you all the best & take care Hugs Tracey #14

  5. I'm amazed you were able to do anything with carpel tunnel at all, let alone these beauties! I had something similar with my right wrist a few years back - I think it was caused by overuse of the computer mouse and a repetitious hand movement at work - it resolved by itself in the end. Good luck for Friday - although it probably means you won't be able to do anything for a while, until it heals. That's why I was glad I hurt my ankles falling down the stairs and not my wrists - although that has its own challenges too LOL! zsuzsa #19

  9. Here's hoping that the op takes place and especially that it sorts out the Carpal problem. Hope you're not out of action too long! It made me smile when I saw your name on the linky today as I really enjoy seeing what you're getting up to - this project is beautiful, as always!

  11. Your collages look wonderful, hope you get to finish them before too long but I would be happy with them as they are now.
Well, good luck with the op on Friday - and the recovery time. After such a long time waiting for something to be done you must be glad that it finally is happening. None of us enjoy going into hospital but I think this will be a welcome trip for you. Thinking of you.

  14. Oh my Diana, I aspire to be able to work like you even when you’re a hand short. I’m sorry about the carpal tunnel, I’ve had both my hands done and whilst massively inconvenient, it’s a miracle and the best bit is that youre so determined to be able to get on and use your fingers and hand afterwards that you recover quickly! Good luck on Friday, will be thinking of you.

  15. These may have taken some time to emerge, and even now be awaiting further detailing, but they are absolutely lovely. I adore the ghostly images, hovering in the layers, and the delicate rosy vines trailing across the background. The stitching you have already done is charming, and those little scissors are delightful.

I do hope they'll be able to help restore some movement and sensitivity for you on Friday, and at the very least reduce the discomfort. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  17. Lovely works, Diana - always love to see your makings! Thanks so much for your recent visits.... I imagine typing is also not much fun at the moment, so I am doubly appreciative of your kind words! Best wishes for tomorrow (and crossing my fingers it does go through!) and a speedy recovery. I look forward to seeing where these little gem postcards go with more stitching, always one of my favorites of your many talents! xxx Lynn

  18. Hi Diana. I feel for you as I've suffered with Carpel Tunnel for years, it has settled down for me since I had the injection into my wrist though it wasn't a pleasant experience at the time. I'm wondering if you are left handed as it's usually the hand you use most. This was a real problem for me when I was teaching textiles as I got to the stage where I couldn't even grip a sewing needle though I actually think it started when we first began using computers regularly as we didn't have any mouse mats but who knows. Do let us know how you get on. Good luck for Friday. Angela x15x

Your pieces this week are truly stunning and inspiring. I’m off to a craft day up the motorway at Brighouse tomorrow but I will be thinking of you
