Sew Busy and WOYWW

I completely missed Wednesday last week!  Somehow the days are melding into each other and I'm losing track of doing all the regular things like WOYWW and putting the bins out!
I do have a good excuse as I've been busy sewing laundry bags for front line NHS staff - they will hopefully help reduce the risk of contamination by allowing scrubs to go straight into the washing machine while in the bag, therefore reducing the amount of handling needed.
My dining room table is now my desk and someone kindly donated a huge pile of old cotton fabric that can withstand a 60° wash - here are the first dozen bags I made.

I am linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week -
I hope you are all staying safe and well, and managing to be busy and creative!

  1. Diana that is such a wonderful idea and lovely thing to do. Well done.
I’m keeping passers by cheered by making little displays outside my house. Today it’s going to be a Teddy Bears picnic.

  2. Great work Diana. My sister is wearing her old theatre scrubs to work these days even though she is a GP now. It makes life a lot easier for her. Thank you. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

  3. I think my comment went awol as I changed rooms and my internet always has to be restarted when I do that - even if I just go through an arch.
I was saying I admired you for making those scrub bags and remarked on how cheerful they look. Must help brighten the day of some of those nurses.
I too am getting muddled with my days - Monday I spent all day trying to reach the local pharmacy and wondered why they were not answering. Doh!
    Stay safe and well

  4. Amazing to see another woyww using her creative skills to help those in need. Always cheers me up to see the number of wonderful people step up without a second thought and do a job. Certainly a productive way of spending lockdown. Stay safe and keep creating.

  5. Well done Diana - we sewing ladies need to do our bit in times of crisis! I love the fabric. All I had was plain sheeting so I added my little rainbow badge to cheer folk up. Stay safe. xx Jo #13

  7. Hi Diana, well done, you ladies sewing these bags are absolute heroes! Glas you liked the stamp, it's a Chocolate Baroque one from many years ago, but still available, called 'Flora & Fauna', and is an A4 sheet with lots of other stamps on it. They actually have quite a range of this type of stamp, Floral on a script background, one thing I love about their stamps is they rarely retire any! The Owl is from Crafty Individuals. 9. Well done you, it's good to see that a few of us deskers are all doing the same thing - it just makes you feel as if you're helping a bit rather than feeling useless. The colours are fab and will cheer someone up a treat!

  11. Great job, great colors. I don't know that here in our area they do this. The prison mates are making washable gowns, previous ones were being burned at a high cost and then shortages. So many are making masks and donating. If we could be warm temps, hot SUNSHINE things would improve, here we just went thru 5 in snow storm with high winds. Today sun and melting. No headway this week. Stay Safe our days go fast in this topsy turvy life #23

  16. So you and Jan (Lunch Lady) are both busy making bags for the NHS! Well done you. Until you explained what they were for, I wasn't quite sure. A great idea. My life isn't too much different from normal since the lockdown, and I've always had a routine so have no problem remembering what day of the week it is! Thank you for visiting - so glad you like my colouring efforts. Now I've got to make lots and lots of cards with them all!! I went through my stash and found that spotty card for the matting and layering and decided to use it to line the envelope too - it's not card I would normally use. I've got loads of stash like that and should use it up, really, and it's ideal for this.

The kitties have always had 5-star treatment and we joke about them being spoilt rotten! We keep telling them that the majority of cats in the world have to eat what they can catch or from rummaging in dustbins, and having to sleep under cars, but they just look at us in total scorn and incomprehension and say "What's that to us? Just feed us / make us warm / give us comfy places to sleep / let us use you as admiration platforms... You ask why?? Because it's our RIGHT!!! And what's a dustbin?" and then look down their noses at us. (They do love us though, and give us lots of affection!) I have heard that it's just scaremongering that our pets can spread the virus. People are actually abandoning their pets because of this, which is totally awful. Ours aren't at risk, whatever the truth of the matter is, and they have plenty of space for running around and playing outside and plenty of warm comfy sleeping places.

Keep safe and well, and happy WOYWW,

  25. Good morning, Diana. Scrub bags seem to be the project of the week. I think they're a great idea. Yes, if it weren't for my supplement box with the day sof the week and my planners, I'm not sure I'd know what day it is either. This too shall pass. Creative Blessings~ Kelly #26
