I am thrilled to show you what is on my desk this week -
a most beautiful water colour sea urchin by the incredibly talented Sandra De, plus a card and some little stamps and sea urchin spines.
I sent her one of my Victorian cabinet card collages and she kindly sent me this - how lucky am I! I love her work and I'm always in awe of her amazing ability to paint with such delicateness, reality and beauty. I can't wait to get this framed and up on my wall.
The beautiful leaf card is also going to be framed and the stamps and tiny sea urchin spines are just delightful and filling me with inspiration.
A huge thank you to you Sandra.
I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.
Awww, nice prezzy - Sandra's work is so lovely - pride of place on your wall!

Now that's what I call happy mail. What a wonderful present to receive - and how lovely that the card will also be framed. Those sea urchin spines are beautiful - I don't think I knew that that's what those were.

Awww Di I am so happy you like the little painting. I even checked if I could post the sea urchins to the UK and as they are made of calcium carbonate there was no problem. Although the lady at the Post office did look at me a little strangely! Your stunning collage is awaiting the cutting of a thicker mat board to fit the frame and then I will post a pic. Thank you so much for the swap. Have a wonderfully creative week.

ReplyDeleteHi Diana. What a lovely gift. That sea urchin is so beautiful! Enjoy finding just the right frame for the pictures, and finding lots of inspiration in the spines. Thanks for your visit and your comments. Ventured as far as the bank this morning, not too bad, and then bravely went into the Co-op... Survived both!!
ReplyDeleteTake care. Stay safe. God bless.

ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw it, I thought it looked like something out of Sandra De's portfolio, though I wouldn't have been surprised if you had ventured into watercolours, Diana- lady of many talents! Beautifully staged and photographed, both the card and the painting! The sea urchin spines look intriguing - I think I had something similar to those, but I didn't know what they were! Happy WOYWW! Hope you have a good week! zsuzsa #24
ReplyDeleteWell what lovely happy nail that is! Absolutely stunning. Happy woyww, Cindy #11
ReplyDeleteperfect mail to receive! You're right about Kew, 3 months - unheard of - however I am not sure they'll want me there as I have to go by train and I just saw on their website they say stay away if you use public transport... but with the new measures on public transport masks, etc I am going to be a rebel and go! ReplyDeleteThat sea urchin is absolutely stunning! How lucky for you and lovely of her. I couldn't work out what those little brown things were but I've never seen the spines like that and they seem bigger than they are in real life. Your feather is looking really beautiful too. Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #14

Fab present, Sandra does, like you, really under rate the impact her art has on us all. How lovely for you. I bet you are really enjoying mulling over what can be done with the stamps and spines, what a marvellous distraction!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful, thought I was on the wrong page at first LOL. What a super gift.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit BJ#15
Hi Diana, sorry for the late visit. Ooh some lovely happy mail. Beautiful sea urchin, that will look fantastic framed. You and Sandra are very talented ladies. Thanks for the earlier visit. We've bought a new coffee machine with the money Mr M has saved not buying his daily coffee. If we are having a staycation then I want some little luxuries - and posh coffee is one of them lol. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #4
