A Painted Birthday Card

After trying out some ideas and getting some water colour practice in,  I have at last finished a birthday card for my sister.  I'm pleased to have finally turned out a card that doesn't have any unintended splodges, smudges or finger prints on it!  That's why I don't do CAS cards!

I'm linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. That's a lovely card with some really beautiful painting - it wouldn't take much to tweak it and morph it into a Christmas card!

  3. Pure perfection! Make sure you scan it in - this could be used as a digital design as well. I struggle with CAS too - there's no room for errors! Too stressful for me LOL. Have a lovely week, Diana! zsuzsa #13

  4. Hi Diana, lovely card, and beautifully painted. I too can't do CAS, I always stamp onto a separate piece of card then matt & layer, I'd definitely make a complete mess if I tried to work on the card itself! I'll agree with the others, this would make a fab Christmas card. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

  6. That's gorgeous Diana and I fully understand your reasoning with the CAS cards. I do make the occasionally but I am far to messy to make anything as gorgeous as this. Have a lovely week and a very happy woyww, Angela x20x

  12. That is so lovely Diana! The colours are gorgeous. Do yu know I have a little stamp which says 'individually created for you complete with my splashes, splodges and smudges'. I find I often have to put that on the back of my inked cards!! Sorry for the late visit, internet a tad flaky this week. Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #25

  15. Absolutely gorgeous - the delicate shapes and vibrant colours are wonderful, and the composition of the garland is so attractive to the eye. Lovely work. I'm sure your sister will be over the moon.

  17. Hi, good to be back in the saddle post-op, didn't think it would take me 2 months to get back to crafting, although I haven't been just sitting around, just doing other things...

Super watercolour card, so delicate and not a single splodge YAY

    Thanks for the visit BJ#26

  18. Wow! this is beautiful ~ I'm with you..I always seem to smudge when trying to do a CAS card. Your colors are beautiful, she's going to really appreciate that. I need to get working in a card for my sis too ~ Thanks for the reminder! Love, Karen#40

  19. Thank you for your return visit, Diana, and for your sweet remarks. So glad you like the latest tiny carpet. I'm steaming ahead quite quickly with this one! I agree with you about acronyms (thanks for the explanation of CAS, by the way - never heard of that one before!) - it is all part of the emerging Orwellian society, in my opinion...

Maybe I should hang onto that top after all. If I take up the outermost layer on the shoulder seams it might be better. I do quite like it! I agree, so much better to be getting rid of things because they are too big rather than too small, which is the usual thing.

The kitties are really funny. They have different facial expressions and you can see them change, as well as expressive body language. They are endlessly entertaining!

Hope you are having a good week.

  22. Hi Diana, sorry for the late visit, I've got bloggy gremlins, hopefully this comment will "stick"! Your card is really beautiful, I'm sure your sister will treasure it, I know I would. I know what you mean about the accidental splodges - I have an ink eraser now and it's a tiny miracle, it's saved a lot of cards where I've got a smear of ink or paint in the wrong place. Failing that, many cards end up with little extra embellishments which cover up the booboos :D Have a great week. Annie C #23

  23. Sorry I’m late! a beautiful card, such gorgeous detail, it must have taken aaages! I think you’ll find many of us stampers shudder at this CAS idea...I don’t have the confidence to go straight to card front....always find that chucking a piece of card in the bin isn’t such an epic fail as chucking a whole card!! Did you vaguely pencil the design first, or just work your way around with a free brush and a good eye for balance? amazeballs.
