Woodland Birthday Card and WOYWW

I can't begin to tell you the problems I've had since replacing my old computer nearly 3 weeks ago - it's been a journey and a half but I finally have enough bits of the new one working to enable me to post something this week - a birthday card for the Hubs!  Made a couple of weeks ago but I'm only just able to access my photos!

The increased time spent away from my computer while the Hubs tries to get it sorted has meant I have spent several happy hours winding my ribbons onto strips of card and tidying them all up.  I'm sure all neat freaks out there will understand when I say how satisfying it was doing that job - I have boxes for different colours - this one is neutrals - and I can see at a glance what I have which is so much easier and nicer than rifling through storage jars stuffed to capacity, however attractive they looked on the shelf!

I linking up with Julia over at WOYWW this week.

  1. Such a wonderful card. I am so glad you are back blogging again. I have a giant storage box of lace and ribbon. I think you have shamed me into winding it onto card so that I too can actually see what I have got! xx Jo

  2. Yay, I’m so glad that your computer woes are mostly sorted now, it’s good to see you back on the desks - I’ve missed you! The card for your hubby is fab, love all those greens in the background and the sorted lace/ribbons gladden my heart. So tidy and you can see everything at a glance!

  3. I can totally understand the pleasure in having them all neatly arranged like that. I particularly love the one at the bottom with the apertures in it - so unusual! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #5

  4. That's a really neat way to store ribbons - mine are just chucked in a box all tangled - the sari ones are hopeless - I just keep cutting them apart when I get to a tangle rather than trying to untangle the mess. Then again, a different kettle of fish. The card looks so luxurious with all those layers and die-cuts - totally delightful! Getting a new computer should be exciting not aggravating! I thought they were supposed to work out of the box these days? I'm glad you managed to get it to work eventually. Thanks for your visit Diana! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #15

  5. That's a lovely card Diana, looks quite dimensional too. Definitely a special one for the man in your life.
You have more patience than I have in winding those ribbons. I may have tidied my room up (and it took forever) but inside the boxes is another story.

  8. Hi Diana, lovely card but the lace distracted me no end! I need to do some sorting like that myself but keep finding other things to do. When I was teaching parents kept sending me all kinds of ribbon, lace and upholstery braid and as no one wanted it when I left I packed it all up into bags and brought it home and lots of it remains in the same bags. You take care and have a very happy creative woyww, Angela x12x

  9. Your box of lace ribbons jumped out at me Diana as did Twiglets card, as I’m working on a lace project with a group I’m in.
Well I say working, I’ve yet to get to it as I keep going outside barking orders at the wandering welder as to what needs doing next in the garden.
Knowing me I’ll produce something just in time for our next meeting haha.
    Have a good week Diana

  11. What an absolutely beautiful card for your hubby, Diana. I know how much he loves the garden and this will certainly go down well. I hope he has a lovely day. As for the lace and ribbons - there's organisation for you! It looks like a work of art in itself. I have some small vintage leather cases and some wooden boxes that are just stuffed with lace, braids and stuff like that - all in a jumble! Perhaps I should try and organise things a bit better along the same lines. I'm a bit of a rummager when it comes to my supplies. My stranded cottons for embroidery are all in plastic bags according to colour, but jumbled up and not neatly wound!

Thank you for your comment - my hubby bought some more bedding plants today and we should have a nice display of colour by the summer. I've asked him to get some anemones as well as we've only got one or two - I love the bright colours. Funny about the violets - I just thought they'd spread a bit since last year, and hadn't thought that perhaps they have good and bad years like anything else! They are so prolific this year and I really love them. You are right - the shameless hussies know how to relax and should take lessons from the Queen about keeping their legs together!!!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  12. Hi. I like tidy ribbons lol.
Ever since I had new phone I've had such problems re accessing photos on laptop. I lose the will to live! The card is brilliant. I have to make one for our son and DH. I have no ideas! :-( Anne x 18

  13. Lovely card!
When I was living it Abu Dhabi a friend helped me wind all my ribbons. They were tidy for such a long time until my sister helped do the same job a year or so ago! It is very satisfying!
    Happy WOYWW!
